Information on romance scams and scammers.

...Ok, this might be a little out of the ordinary, but I have decided to look into getting a mail order bride. Well, possibly looking into it.

Not that there is anything wrong with me, I stay in shape working out 6 - 7 days a week, I am a Mixed Martial Arts fighter, and a relatively succesful businessman. I simply dont have the time to invest in the whole Westernized getting to know someone through the dating process. So I decided to possibly look into the mail order bride services.

My question is, how do I know which ones are legit, or which ones are looking to scam? Are those kinds of services reputable?

Hello kungfu101, I don't know of any reputable mail order bride sites. If (and that is a big IF) you were to get someone sent to you as a bride, it is likely they are being forced into the arrangement by one means or another.

You sound like a reasonable person, and just because you pay for someone to come and be your "bride, doesn't mean that the situation will work out satisfactorily.

I will say, I do not know how to tell you to go about "finding" a legitimate agency. Even adoption agencies in foreign countries can be dodgy. I encourage you to be very, very careful if you undertake this method of finding a companion.

There are professional match making services that might be a better choice for you because you can check them out more easily.

Well you could try a dating site. It's more than likely to be stuffed with scammers. Here is one that you may find to be safe.
http://www.datingnmore.com/
The site is run by the owner of the Romance Scam website, a friend and colleague of many of the people who warn and help here, and just same as in real life you can take a chance on who you find. They have a robust antiscammer policy.
Sesile.com also has a robust antiscammer policy.. The owner is an FSU lady living in UK, and is keen to run a clean site although I am not sure as to how effective she is.
I think you should read around about the scams found, and be aware of asking such questions such as " Why would a 20 year old girl who looks like a model be interested in me?"
If it is too good to be true then it probably is not.
I am not advertising or promoting any site but I feel where such sites do actually have an antiscam policy, that we should encourage them and help them create a safer internet for us all.

Morning guys,
Thanks for the information. Bubbles, yea I'm definitely not expecting to be completely perfect, no marriage ever is. I've been down the divorce road once. Since then though I've had some other business opportunities come up(aside from my MMA training) and simply don't have time to date. I'm definitely not niave enough to believe it to be a perfect foolproof plan into marriage, but hey...could be worth a shot right?

Began, thanks also for the info. By nature I'm a fairly skeptical person and not quick to trust. I've had instances in the past with scammers attempting to get me to send money, but I've not been pulled into their web of lies yet. Usually I string them along and try to waste their time till I get bored then I move on. 90% of my work day is sat behind a computer screen so whats sending 1 more email right? Not to mention, if you waste enough of their time some of them get rather angry. Anyways, I will take a look at those websites. Thanks for the info again.

I am locking this because we are not a dating or match making site. The original poster was given some solid advice and there is nothing more to be said about this off topic, topic.

Please PM me if you have questions or concerns.
