Information on romance scams and scammers.

This is not a genuine man looking for a relationship; he is a scammer. He is not who he says he is - he is actually a Nigerian man, living in Nigeria. The IP addresses from his emails confirm this:

41.217.66.5 - Abuja, Nigeria
82.128.1.36 - Lagos, Nigeria
82.128.85.26 - Lagos, Nigeria

This scammer makes contact with women on dating and social websites, and pretends to fall in love with them. Then he invents a reason to request money from them. His stories are not true, and he does not fall in love with anyone. Everything is a lie - his only intention is to steal money from women.

He also uses the email address:

[email protected]

Here is an example of a 'loving' email from him:

From: Jason Sawyer <[email protected]>

Thank you so much for the email. You always are so thoughtful and caring. I appreciate the thoughtful words, as they are so powerful. Remember in the Bible it says that the spoken word holds the power of life and death in them, that is why it is so important to always watch how we speak to one another, and even to ourselves. The words you have spoken to me are so powerful, that I am building a dream in my heart with those words, and I couldn't bare if they would never come to pass.

Thank you for wanting to be there for me and protect me and take care of me, it means the world to me. I have always had to be the strong one through the years, and never, ever had anyone in the tangible world to lean on. I am a survivor in life, always remembering that while the lessons of life can be harsh at times, so the joys of life can bring us immense love. Those remembrances are the very fiber of what life is all about. I can't wait to see all that you speak of in action, because I know once I see these things, every sorrow I have ever known will be erased and replaced with good, finally. I pray that the majority of hardships in our lives have passed, and that good will be our portion also, but I also pray that if that is not the case, that God will give us the strength to face whatever comes our way.

You are so kind and loving in so many ways, and even though we have had some misunderstandings, I feel that you and I could work through anything, no matter what the challenge. It is all about mutual love and respect for one another. I do respect you and I appreciate what you have had to face in life as well, and I hope that I can be an encouragement to your heart always.

I love you and will always be praying for your safety and happiness in life. Always remember the Lord in whatever you do, and I know He will never forsake you.

Well, sweetheart, I have to go now. Say hello to your family and friends.

All my love

Jason

And here are some of the photos that he sends to women. Note that these photos are not photographs of the scammer - the scammer has found them online, downloaded them, and uses them to send to women, pretending that this is himself (and his daughter).

I had the displeasure of meeting this guy on POF. The pics you posted are the ones he is using on that site. I reported him to POF upon seeing your posting here! Thank you!

This man has a new e-mail - [email protected] and he uses 2 phone numbers he has used to contact me- I noticed that i am not able to contact him using them though, one is a 949 which is correct for Aliso Viejo, the other is a 414 -212-881038. The address and phone number in Aliso Viejo are not his.

I also met this guy on POF. He was using the jaysaw70 email address. I realized over a week ago that he was a scammer and stopped all contact with him. However, today I received an email and yahoo add request from Matthew Sawyer- claiming to be Jason's brother. He said he was writing to let me know that Jason had been in a near fatal accident on the way to the airport to return to the US, and was lying in intensive care. And of course he has no money to pay his medical bills! The email address he is now using is [email protected]. Just wanted to let everyone know what hes up to...

Hi lv2play,
sadly, this may not be the last time the scammer tries to contact you.
Once he thinks you are an easy target, he might try to scam you with a fresh persona and a different type of scam. Watch out for suspicious emails in the future, and don't hesitate to come her for information.

I have found this same person on doulike.com posting as a woman. The name this person is using is [email protected]. The real connections I have made between these Sawyers is that they use the same verbiage in the way they communicate their "love", and they are all in Nigeria. This Sawyer is an "art dealer" there to buy art. She says she will return to where she lives in Washington, D.C. in 5 days and she wants to meet. I will play along until I can get a request for money from her, then I will submit the complaint to the website and I will post "her" information here.
