Have Am I been scamed???

I have been talking to this soldier who is stationed in Afghanistan. He began by telling me that he love me and wanted me to marry him. I have begin to fall for this guy. He sent an email on facebook stating that his internet connection was being terminated within a few days and needed money. He sent me the following email address:[email protected] and asked me to contact them on how to keep internet connection with him..when I received no response from this email, he then sent me this email address: military consult <[email protected]>.I received the following email from them:

Unfortunately, I didn't have to get past your first paragraph to be able to tell you it is a scam. It is 100% beyond a doubt a scam.

-Both of those email addresses are free email addresses that have absolutely nothing to do with the US military, and civilians are NOT responsible for making requests of ANY kind for soldiers. In fact, the US military does not allow civilians to make requests on behalf of soldiers.

-The English is, quite frankly, terrible--and is not consistent with an American. The types of mistakes tell me that the emails were written by an African.

- The US military does not take money from civilians, and they don't use Western Union.

The best thing you can do is cut off all contact with this scammer immediately.

You have done the right thing in asking about this,and Dotti has exposed this for what it is ..A decietfull scam.

If I may i would like to ask a question as im confident the answer and experience you offer will help others before they fall into the same trap. At what point did you feel that there was something suspicious about all of this. My reasons for asking are in the highlighted quote. Did you have any suspicion at all when "money/fees (ie.internet connection listing was mentioned) or do you think you sub-conciously blanked that out? This would be an interesting area to explore.

You say you fell hard for him, and that is totaly understandable, would you sare with us "how hard" you fell as my feeling it was probaly further on even after the demands for money were made. If you feel you dont want to answer that, that is absolutley fine. You will recover from this, and you will find support here.

I hope my experience will help others in this situation. I guess I subconsciencely did have suspicions when he asked me for money for internet connections and I did not listen to my instincts and sent him the money. I just wanted to please him. He had talked about coming home and getting married. We spoke about maybe moving to Houston where he said he was from. The pictures that are posted on Facebook are of a very handsome man and it would be hard not to fall for him when he is telling you so many romantic things and expressing his undying love for you.

Something did trigger a real suspicion when he sent me an email from someone's (his friend supposedly) in Nigeria. This how ever was after I sent him the money and he was asking for more. I did listen to my instincts this time and did not send him the money. I sent him an email to let him know that I was not sending any more money to him and he has not responded to me since.

I too nearly fell for one of these scams. I got to start likely the guy I was emailing. Luckily I don't have a great deal of money, so I couldn't do as he requested anyway, and wouldn't have done even if I had.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people who can very easily be taken in by these scammers, as they give you all the wonderful talk of how much they love you and how they want to spend the rest of their lives with you. Anyone who is feeling low or lonely are very much at risk of getting hurt.
I have already come across 3 different ones, trying 3 different approaches and that is in the space of a couple of months.
To anyone reading this, please be careful and do not give out any personal details about yourself.
