scam?

Is there any way to find out, if somebody is a scammer and all I have is his email addy and his yahoo id?
Here is the mail I just got. I would appreciate any input. It doesn't sound right.

Your suspicions are correct.
I got through the first paragraph and could already say for certain this is a scammer. The approach is typical scammer, and more importantly the writing is very distinctly African, not American.

I am also sending a PM with some more information and suggestions.

Thanks Dotti. I'm getting better at this. I can smell them from miles away now, LOL. But yeah, that email sounded too good already.
Thanks for your PM too. Now I know how to check them. I am so glad I found this site. Will block and report the guy right away.

Please don't report the scammer's email account. He'll only open a new one. The old one can now by found by any potential victim who does an Internet search, so the longer it lasts, the better.
