Yesterday my friend has come over to my house to discuss about this British guy who has been chatting with her for a few months...

My friend seems excited but not sure because this guy would like to come to our country and announce their engangement....And this guy would like to send the parcel to her address along with 50,000 pounds in the parcel

My alarm bell start ringing when she showed me this guy's emails. So I browsing the internet to know whether it's the scam or not. And being stumbled upon this forum.
Particulary, this one email...... I'll post it here, and remove my friend's info, can you please help determine the IP address from this email's header? I also want to know whether the website for tracking the parcel that he has provided is real or not?

I'd like to obtain the clues so I can convince my friend since she seems has the hope that this guy is real, I really don't want my friend to become the victim, so...............

Welcome to Scamwarners. It's a scam no question about it.
The website is fake. Recently set up for the minimum 12 months, and why would a PO Box reject mail? That's what PO Boxes are for.

There's no good reason for anyone to send £50,000 cash by mail, and I'm sure your friend would get an email saying the parcel had been held at the airport, asking her to pay money before it can be released.
From the site.
Potential Fraud Alert

British Express Cargo has become aware of fraudulent activity through the misuse of the British Express Cargo name and brand. The fraudulent communications on websites and in email messages typically concern a request for advance wire transfer of money to pay for goods ordered on the internet, before the goods can allegedly be shipped by British Express Cargo. Or it concerns messages that request an advance payment before the release of some lottery prize.

Please Note:
British Express Cargodoes not request advance wire transfers of money to pay for goods ordered on the internet and allegedly shipped via British Express Cargo.

British Express Cargo does not request advance wire transfer of money to release lottery payments.

Existence of a tracking number is not necessarily proof that a consignment has been given to British Express Cargo.

If you are in any doubt as to the authenticity of a communication from British Express Cargo please call +44 7031742796.

The 4470 redirect number is also a sure sign of a scam.

I'm sorry to say this is 100% African scammer, no doubt about it. As Arnold has pointed out, the website is fraudulent. Our site killers will start the ball rolling on that, but if your friend is willing to share any emails that came from the "shipping company" that would help them to do that.

The writing tells me she is not dealing with a British man. The English is quite poor, and the types of mistakes and some specifics in the phrasing tell me he is African. This particular format, right down to the teddy bear in the box, has been used several times.

What we really have is pretty simple:
-The scammer is an African man, most likely writing from Africa or Malaysia (where there is a large cell of Nigerian romance scammers)
-He has sent nothing to your friend
-The fake shipping company website belongs to him or his gang. When she types in her "tracking number" it will "confirm" there is a package in transit for her. That's what the site was created for.
-Ultimately, she will be contacted by the "boyfriend" or the "shipping company." The (nonexistent) package will be stuck somewhere. It will be held for taxes, or customs stopped it, or the money inside was discovered and the authorities grabbed it--the excuses vary, but they typically run along the same kind of lines, and the next part never changes. She will have to pay someone in order to get the package released so that it can continue on to her. If she pays, there will be more reasons for sending money. In the end, she will have no package, no money, and no British boyfriend.

Please encourage her to read this, and to immediately cut off contact with the scammer.

Thank you so much for the help!

I finally can convince her that this guy undoubtedly trying to scam her, after I showed her the bunch of similar scam cases (the result of my browsing) and this thread too.

Thanks to that, finally my friend's right mind has returned, and she already confronted this scammer asking straightforwardly, of course this guy denied it with many excuses and blaming her for not believe him and not loving him because she doesn't want to receive his gifts...

Oh well, the fake shipping company has not emailed her yet, but I already told her to forward the email from them to me if she were to receive it. I'll post the email from them then.

And also, here the address that this guy uses, I wonder whose address that he uses though.....Also the phone number, I don't think he's really in UK, right?

No. 49 Feather Stone Road North Yorkshire

Right. The 4470 number redirects calls to another phone anywhere in the world. And the address is nonsense. Yorkshire is 200 miles north of London.

by jolly_roger Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:10 am
Oh no! Is that another phone number beginning with 4470? I'm happy you're friend has witnessed the truth in this particular case otomelover. If you look at viewtopic.php?f=26&t=13567 and scroll down a wee way, there's a post that better describes these re-direct numbers.

I believed that real, and there's a women call me from Malaysia.
She asked me to send some money for a costum charge. It's about 600 USD.
Then they asked me to send money for fines money found in the package.
I then thought, why the package is opened when Collin Johnson sends it to P & C (Private & Confidential).
Then I asked him to send money penalty of 2500 pounds but suddenly he said that he was the forest.
Luckily I did not lose too much money. But I regret my previous stupidity.

I am sorry that you lost money to this scammer, alinez.

Unfortunately, everything you have been told by the scammer and fake shipping company is a lie, so your money is gone.

You can help to stop this group from scamming others with their fake shipping company by posting any emails you received from the fake shipping company, including the headers. Our site killers can use those emails as evidence of the scam. If you are not able to post them, if you can forward them to the address in my signature I will make sure they are passed on. The faster we can get the fake website down, the fewer victims there will be.

Oh my goodness....
I'm sorry to hear that, alinez..........
When my friend texted me, told me that this guy has contacted her whether the package has arrived to her house or not? My friend said straightforwardly that she know he's a scammer and she know the package will be held and she should pay the fine for this nonexistent package....

And the parting words that she hear from this guy was...."Thank you very much, you can go to hell and I'll find another women"

She never hear from him again since then, he clearly told her that he'll find another victims...We are praying that the women he targeted not believe him so easily, it's him who should go to hell to scam people.

Since my friend has known this before fake shipping company email her, so maybe the fake shipping company won't email her.

alinez, if you could post the email from them, please do so, I am so itchy to make that site closed down.
by alinez Wed Jun 15, 2011 3:19 am
I don't know how to posting the e mail. But I will do anything to stop them.
I still keep a bill when I sent them a money by Western Union. I think maybe someday can be usefull.
Less information make me lost money.

Hi alinez,
don't worry, we'll figure this out. :D

There are several ways to put the scam mail onto this forum:

- either copy the email and post it here (mark the whole text with your mouse, press "Copy", start a post here, insert the text, delete your own name aand email address

- or, and that would be better in this case,
go to your email programme and look for the "Forward" button. Send the email, like Dotti suggested, to the address she put in her signature line at the very bottom of all her posts.
Be sure to delete the spaces she left in it:

Alinez,

I see that you forwarded some emails to me. I have received them and will post them later today.

However, I notice that the email regarding the package came from a yahoo address. Did you receive any emails from the shipping company's addresses at britexcargo.com?

i fell so thankful with this forum. I almost be a scam victim but when i find this discussion i can prevent myself to be those scammers' victim. Thanks God. :oh-joy:
i knew him about a month ago. His name is Benjamin Dom, he said he was from UK, but i found so many mistakes in his grammar during our conversation. he said that he is in love with me and wanted to send me a package. he mailed me the contents of the package and i was really surprised because he gave me valuable things and a huge a mount of money about 50 000 pounds. I felt it was really suspicious because we knew each other only about 1 month but why he gave me all those valuable things. he said he sent me the package from british express and he also attached the airway bill. But i didn't believe him at all, but i played the game till the end. Until one morning 9th September a girl from Malaysia called me and said that my package was held my Malaysian custom and she asked me to send 600 USD for the clearance fee. I said to the girl that i would send her the money immediately. But I sent nothing :D cos I've known that they're scammers. Thanks for all friends here who has given me a very useful information.
