Here is the original email I received from this person. Having talked to another of those scammed by him, it was the exact same email sent to them the first time. I will also be forwarding to this group the emails received concerning sending money towards military transit

The Transit process is free if your soldier Man is going for an official assignment or the deployment tour is over, I want you to know that the Military and the Red Cross will be responsible for this but you are requesting for the Transit process of your Soldier Man. After one submits money for the initial fee, and the plane ticket, these two amounts I have found have vaired from individual to individual during this scam. Mine were $1650 and $2500 respectfully. Then I was asked to remit an additional $2800 to pay for the replacement's air fare. While I am out the first two amounts, I discovered the scam before remitting any more money. Please beware of these types of emails. Any transportation, even a leave in the middle of one's tour in Iraq or Afghanistan is not only paid for by the Army, but can only be requested by the service personnel themselves, not by their "beneficiary, fiance, girlfriend, etc" These people are very good at making you think that this is legit, that things have changed and this is the way it is now done. If you asked to provide any money for these fees, you are definitely being scammed.
I would love to hear from others who have been scammed the same way, and espcially anyone who was scammed by "Michael Patterson" .

If you receive any email from a general, etc . please be aware that this is a scam. You will not be contacted directly like this by a general.

...And the mail2soldier address has nothing to do with the US military.
It's just another free email service with unlimited storage space. It's like mail.com

The Policy instruction form and personal form, knowing fully well that the communication is between the British army and the united states Army. So as soon as you ready to get the forms get back to us for the payment information. And note that the money you are to pay is refundable.

You also have to know that the transit process is free if your soldier woman is going on official leave. But Sgt Kristy Michelle never due for an official leave at the moment, but you are requesting for it. So normal military protocol has to be followed in other to know that the officer is not playing pranks to the military.

There is absolutely no doubt. It is a scam. The person you are writing to is an African scammer, most likely a young African male, not an American soldier.

There is no process by which you can ask for leave for an American soldier. The whole policy is an invention of scammers. In the real US military, a soldier has to ask for leave for themselves, and there is no fee to ask for it. If they eligible, it is free, and if they are not eligible, they don't get it, period. Someone else cannot request leave for them, and there is no way to buy leave they are not eligible for.

In addition, the official currency of the United States is dollars, not pounds. No American agency, including the US military, would be talking about British pounds. And no official American agency conducts business through Western Union or Moneygram. The British army and US army are completely different agencies, and you would not be going through one to conduct business with the other.

The many mistakes in English and certain peculiarities in the phrasing also tell me with absolute certainty that the email was written by an African, not an American, and certainly not a high-level military official with an education. Even the soldier's name tells me you have an African scammer, as they often don't know the difference between given names and surnames, which is why they made a mistake with the name.

Very convincing but gave it away with to many discrepancies in her text, like date of birth, where she was living, no contact as not allowed phone, no web cam only email, text through cata or text through pager which she asked me to top up for her.

so beware of these scams and ask as many questions as you can, any emals that ask you to pay for there return is balls**t as they all get leave
