been caught out

hi everyone,been on uniformdating website.i'm from england.met richard bolton just 10 days ago.please dont let him break your heart like he did with me.the first thing he says he is in the american army(35th infantry in victory camp as an engineer.he will send photos.looks good so far.first time he asked for money was for his sons trip.he asked for £600.i said no straightaway.he is very cool,doesnt get angry at you.now he asks for me to write to general william scarr.cut a long story short i asked the dating site to check my fears out.they confirmed he was a scammer.my heart sank but i wasnt surprised.what is it with these dating sites.u think you have met a guy you like and fall for and they do that.why isnt these dating sites more thorough?please answer me that! now the site has blocked him and i go back to square one and pick up the pieces.i have pictures so feel free to ask me for them.

I'm so sorry you have been contacted by a scammer, and I can imagine it hurts even if you were smart and didn't lose money. I'ts great you took the time to post a warning, thank you! This will help other ladies who get suspicious.

Would you mind giving more information so Google will give more hits?
The email address will be useful, and the text of one of his first emails (delete your own name). Scammers use ready-made scripts again and again, so chances are that a lady googling a particular phrase of the text will find your post here. And of course pictures will be a big help as well.

Sorry nightengale that that's happened. But yes, count yourself fortunate to smell it ahead of time. I just wish I had been saved from the same. Unfortunately, the internet is anonymous so it's hard for sites to verify anything. Plus, it's a business, as long as they are making money, it's not in their best interest to do much about it. Seems like with other laws and such, we all have to put in a massive amount of time and energy and appeal to our government to change laws and policies to force them, but even with the best of efforts, it would take at least many years. And some few people would basically need to dedicate a full time job just to get some politicians to take us seriously and work with us to start the process.
