I have a Facebook Scammer who I wasn't sure if he would turn out to be a Romance Spammer or a scammer who says how much charity work he does and gets you to pay money to his charity. Well, it looks to be turning out to be a romance scammer. He hasn't invested a lot of time in me, so I suspect that he has someone else on the line who is proving to be more profitable to his scam than I am, since I refused to move off Facebook Messenger to Google Chat as he requested me to do. He seems very distracted, only replying to some of the things I said until today when I called him out on not really having real conversations but only just saying enough to be "around" for me. After that he posted romantic sayings saying how I am the best thing in his life. So then I Googled them and 2 of them (the ones without any emoticons/emojis) were exact quotes. One of which brought me here again, and another from a romance blog.
He is pretending to be the actor from the TV Show Lucifer using details from the actors life as his own and photos are easy to attain for him. Being an Actor has given him a reason for being away and says he is over seas making a new film and that is why he is so busy and in a different time zone than I am. We have not voiced and I have refused to go off Facebook.
I have reported to Facebook for them to check out his Profile but nothing on the Profile would set off any red flags unless they were specifically looking if it is not the actor. But they don't do that. They just look to see if anything breaks the TOS on Profiles in general. Not if it is a person pretending to be another. Even to report a profile impersonating a celebrity is only able to be done if the celebrity has a real Facebook page. If they don't then tough luck.
Does anyone know if Facebook checks the personal chats for romance scams? This scammer befriended me July 20th this year. I suspected a scam of some type when the first thing he said to me in messenger was "Am Tom what’s your name beautiful and where are you from".
So I wanted to warn people that the Facebook account named "Thomas John Ellis" is NOT the actor. In fact, that actor does have his own page and on it, he says that people are pretending to be him and no he won't start any romantic conversations with any of his fans.
Not sure if I can put the FB scam page of his on here but if I can then here it is (if not then please edit my post and delete the link): https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100087122636805
Our life together is already amazing, and together it will only get better and better. I will forever be grateful that you came into my life and made all my dreams come true. Together we're perfect, and I will enjoy enjoying spending the rest of my life with you. I love you more than words can say.I love you with my whole heart. I have never trusted anyone the way I trust you. Sometimes I even doubt myself, but I know I will never doubt you because you are my true love. I know deep down inside that you will never break my heart or let me down in any way.
Ever since you walked into my life I have been smiling. There hasn't been a night when I have gone to sleep with a frown on my face, and it's all because of you.
