I recently joined a local newspaper online dating and was approached by a member Jonathan medina. He says hes serving in Araq with the US army. Take it from me he isn't....he hasn't even done his homework as far as military protocol and rules are concerned. I was a little suspicious at first but the alarm bells really started to ring when he said he wanted to come to the UK to visit me but that I had to apply for him to have a 'vocational leave'. he said the reason I had to apply was because it cost money and he couldnt access his accounts due to security. Hello!!! he contacted me via North West Evening Mails online dating....the Mail Im sure have no idea and I will be emailing them after this to inform them of this person. Ladies beware,......if he seems to good to be true.....HE IS!!

Hi,
I had my suspicions about the guy I am talking to on-line and isn't it amazing what you find out if you stick a name in a search engine?

I'm a naturally suspicious person anyway and somehtign just didn't ring true. I just feel sorry for who ever it really is in the photos he is using (I'm assuming it is a bit difficult to fake a Chinook and airbase?!).

Ah well, they do say you live and learn.

best regards
Merc.

hi, i received a mail from this guy about 3 weeks ago. i met him on a dating site. he called himself Andy but signed his message Jonathon. when i questioned him he said he was called jonathon and had to use a fake name due to being army intelligence. on the dating site he said he was from london

i gave him my email address and received an email including some photos. possibly the same as some of you have had as they sound similar. i never replied back to him and deleted the email. so far he hasnt tried to contact me again. his account on the dating site is inactive and was a couple of days after he spoke to me.

im glad i didnt bother with him. i was so shocked to see his name on here

hi
thankyou to everyone who has given invaluable advice concerning Jonathan Medina. Thankgod for search engines and a bit of common sense. I have only just started talking to this so called gentleman, but with this knowledge will be deleating him from the dating site. He is still using [email protected] but has also given me another email address of [email protected].
I was suspicious about his story, as funnily enough it seems to be the general norm on dating sites and have nearly got stuck before, but thankfully used my knowledge and did some investigating before any damage or more importantly time wasted is done!
Men like this cause so much hurt!

I have been in contact with Jonanthan Medina for about 3 weeks now but curiosity made me google his name and here I am! We've been emailing each other every couple of days since October and he's been writing the same sort of stuff he has done for other women on here. He wants to meet me, look into my eyes, blah blah. He told me he wouldn't get leave until July next year but that I could apply for vocational leave for him by emailing his commander. Anyway I've just sent "Sargent Medina" his last email and just hope that whoever he tries to scam next doesn't fall for it!

My advise :

If you get email(s) from someone who you suspect of being a scam, try to notice the accent in their writing. Is it American if they claim to be from America? If they are British, how good or poor is their writing?

If for instance, someone claims to be from Los Angeles, California, ask them several questions ( most times real very smart scammers check through the profile of their prospects and then claim they are from the same city or once lived in the same city as their prospect ) about where they claim to be from.

Ask them to give you their previous phone numbers. Some of them can provide you all of these but if they ask for money and the only way you can send it to them is via Western union and or money gram or other money transfer agencies then red flag....They know they can easily be tracked through their banks.

Also, try to ask them questions on what they have told you previous ( they are lying so it is easy to forget some of the things they say ), pretend as if you have forgotten what they had told you previously.
