Hi ScamWarners,
I’m reporting a scammer impersonating my real-life friend who is currently incarcerated. They reached out through a fake Facebook account named XXX and claimed to be using a prison tablet. The scammer soon moved the conversation to iMessage using the email [email protected] and continued pretending to be XXX .
They engaged in casual conversation and then began emotionally manipulating me — claiming that prison life was hard, others were taking their food, and they had “nothing on their books.” Eventually, they asked for a small amount of money to be sent via Apple Pay or PayPal.
Here is the PayPal email they provided:
• Email: [email protected]
• Name provided: Lori Parker
• Message: “Use friends and family option when sending”
• They also asked for a screenshot afterward to prove it was sent.
I refused to send money, especially after discovering that [email protected] is already listed here on ScamWarners as part of a different scam involving impersonation of a U.S. soldier.
I challenged them to share personal info only my real friend would know, and they failed. They even used a different name — “Eric” — when asked for an inmate number. It was clearly a scam from the start, but they were persistent and manipulative.
They used a combination of:
• A fake Facebook account created in March 2025 under my friend’s name.
• iMessage from email: [email protected]
• PayPal scam account: [email protected]
• Name drop for payment: Lori Parker
• Emotional blackmail: “Girls beat me up and take my food” / “Can you do me a lil favor boo?”
• Pushing urgency: “Send more than $20,” “My battery’s dying,” “I’ll send the food vendor info now,” etc.
This was a fairly sophisticated impersonation attempt using multiple platforms, but they reused an already-blacklisted scam email address.
I’m posting this so others can find this info before falling for it.
Thanks,
XXX
