Hello Scam warners,

You've advised many times here that the phone number with prefix +4470xxxxxx is scammer's redirect phone number. I can understand that.

I have been given 3 phone numbers :

+447045753895 (disconnected)
+447924455940 (disconnected)
+447035914808 (disconnected)

And 1 phone number that was claimed to be a phone in Queensland, Australia :

0731025481 (this number is still active - the person(scammer) is still answering the phone.

How do I know that the Queensland number is legit or not ?
Thanks

Hi Katharina
Is the website safe? Can help to check following number?

+447845052610
+448719151936

Yes, the site is perfectly safe.
your first number returned the following :

Number billable as mobile number
Country or destination United Kingdom
City or exchange location
Original network provider* Telefonica O2 (UK) Limited

and the second one :

Number billable as premium rate number
Country or destination United Kingdom
City or exchange location
Original network provider* FleXtel Limited

Hope this helps. The second one is a different sort of scam, you are encouraged to call the number, sometimes the cheeky scammers even have an answerphone message that sounds like the calling tone, so you sit there and run up your phone bill, they get the profit.

It probably isn't possuble to do a reverse directory enquiry without payment . As a hint remove the +44 and replace with a 0 /zero and the search ---0871 code

Hi Juberry,

Welcome to Scam Warners.

Please see Inspector Gadget's post above.

The number is a UK premium rate number and there is no way of tracking down the owner.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

I am communicating with an individual from a dating site in the last couple of days who emailed me some pics of a very attractive female supposing these pics to be her. I noticed her phrasing and spelling of sentences seemed to be of poor grammer. I added her to my fb page as a friend she goes by the name of Mary Foster and there is a lengthy phone number apparently from another country. As soon as i replied to her message on the dating site she immediately withdrew her account. however, i did email her @ ([email protected]) and had a nice little chat with her today, however she/whoever it is has offered different info as to their location, their age, their birth place etc. This person gave me a phone number on chat that when googled led me to this site as a rental scammer for a property in Beaverton,OR. the number is based from Chicago, Illinois (312)912-9369 We exchanged phone numbers and an individual immediately called me from this number, the voice did not fit the picture of the female at all. The individual told me in an email they were born in Reserve,Kansas but today told me she was born in nigeria where her mother was from but currently resided in Chicago with an Uncle. Also says her father was born here in the states. What a shame I thought i found me a beautiful lady, well i guess i did, she just dont really exist im afraid. And some beautiful ladies photos are being used and thrown all around the world of internet scamming and she has no idea.

Welcome Keith,

Your suspicions are absolutely right--what you are describing is typical scammer scenario. There is no doubt the scammer is actually in Nigeria as claimed--but of course he (the person writing is most likely a male, using a family member or accomplice to handle calls) is actually Nigerian.

Without doing a lot of research, I suspect that the number is a magicjack number. We are seeing these used more by scammers these days, and they do provide numbers in the Chicago 312 area code.

As far as the woman in the photos goes--if it's any consolation, chances are she does know her photos are being used in scams already. Scammers are increasingly using internet porn actresses' photos in their scams, because they can download video of the same actress to create fake webcam.

The porn industry is very much aware of the use of models' photos--but they really don't have a good way to stop it. If a scammer gets onto their site using a proxy and a stolen credit card, chances are by the time they identify and confirm the fraud, he will have downloaded a large volume of photos and video--and once he has saved it, there is no way to take it back.
