HELP! George Hokey

Hi,
my friends mother has been giving this guy in Ghana money. She met him online at a dating site. He says his name is George Hokey, I have traced 2 of his IP addresses, one routes to Cali and the other too Ghana. He sent her a picture of himself and I found the same pic under myspace.com. Has anyone heard of or seen this pic of "George Hokey" before? He claims he searches for rare minerals and needed money to not be blacklisted from flying back to america. This si getting worse and she's losing money left and right and refuses to believe he's a scammer...but everytime he says hes coming to meet her his story changes and he needs more $$$.

I'm sorry your friend's mother has been taken in by a scammer.

If you want, you can post the details here - scammer's email addy, and samples of emails, with headers if yu can get them. A helpful staff member will be happy to help find evidence about the scam. Many times the scammer will send out the same letter to everyone he meets, and only after a few exchanges will he go "off script." You of course would want to remove any detail that could point to the victim.

I'm guessing the Cali IP is Sunnyvale? That's Yahoo HQ IP, not really where he is/was.

First of all, you are right you have 100% pure scammer here. The first sentence of his profile is a dead giveaway that he is absolutely not American (which makes him a liar since he claims to be from CA). The grammar mistakes are very African.

So, without any of his emails, just his profile, here is a start: Looking at the first two lines in the profile, we find the personals below. all with different names and pics, but the exact same verbiage, poor grammar and all.

I did get an IP address from Ghana though. Where he says he is located. I got one form Ghana, after oding a more "in depth" search. And yes Sunnyvale is a yahoo corporate data center. I do systems security for a living so I know my way around the net, and these scammers don't really have too much protection, on the web on their side when it comes to covering up their exact location. But yes I beleive it is a scammer also. I am 110% sure. mr george "hokey" I call him Mr. George Hoax. =P

I have also been contacted by a George Hokey through a Christian dating website. Although luckily he has never asked me for money. However, when I talked to him on the phone he sounded completely either Nigerian or Ghanan. He claims to live in Suisin City, CA. He is very clever and does not answer you questions fully and acts as if you are the guilty one for asking him something that would be normal for any woman to ask.
Well Im not just any woman! I'll figure out a way to post his picture soon. I figure he is talking to several women. He states that he is or was in marketing. He also claims to have a son and has adopted a cute little girl from ghana.
I really fell for him and wanted to visit him. Til this day he cannot show me himself via webcam, athough he continues to say he is real. I am so very disappointed.
