My friend met someone on Zoosk who says his name is Eric she will not tell me his last name. She has talked with him now for over a year. He has been working on some oil rig on some island below Nigeria he has been there for over a year, Actually when she first started talking to him he said he was in scotland on an oil rig then had to fly to this oil rig in these islands by Nigeria. He keeps coming up with all kinds of stories of why he is stuck there and now is telling her he is just waiting for monies to be transfered into his account but now he has to get some kind of paper work otherwise the nigerian company cannot transfer his payment of 500,000.00 into his bank account here in the U.S. He is telling her he wants her to meet him in Scotland because he has to fly back there again for another payment. He says he lives in California and has a 9 year old son who is being taken care of by a nanny. Wife died of cancedr and parents died in car accident. He says he has a business that works on oil rigs but he has no eb site and says he is on face book but no pic or any info. I know she has told him that she is expecting a large settlement from workers comp. I am petrified!! She is on the phone telling him I love you calling him Baby she has never met this guy!! She tells me he would not stand her up if she goes to Scotland to meet him. He does call her and she says he has a valid cell phone number PLEASE HELP I AM REALLY AFRAID IF SHE DOES GO TO SCOTLAND TO "MEET" HIM I MAY NOT SEE MY FRIEND AGAIN.

Ok Linda

I think that you are right this does sound like a typical scam, do you know if she has sent him money ?

Can you prehaps direct her to this site, if that is not possible maybe get her to google this fellow, I am certain that on NO Account should ahe be travelling to meet anyone, that she does not know.

If you wish you can email me at

She said she mailed him something to his California address but did not tell me what she mailed.

you cannot find him on google nor this company that he supposedly owns. Again if you search on facebook a page comes up no pic, info, wall etc....

He has an accent she says he told her he is from Ireland i think has a sister in Australia but has not spoken of relatives here in the U.S.

This guy is good, she has been taken in hook line and sinker and yes she has already looked into flights to Scotland.

Must be something like this one http://www.scamvictimsunited.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=2862 If it seems the same story/same guy/kid then show it to your friend.

only expressing my opinion, not handicapped by any knowledge what so ever, I've been scammed myself, but that's it.Think people!Anyone can be scammed, over the Internet or at the car dealers, there's no shame in that.

Hi Linda!
There is absolutely no doubt that your friend is dealing with a scammer. All of the details that you posted have been used by scammers time and time again. It would be great if your friend was open to looking around this site where she would find many familiar stories such as what she's being told by this scammer.

The scammer may be using her as a mule. Essentially using her to move merchandise bought with stolen credit cards. She is more than likely unknowingly taking part in a crime. This is very common with romance scammers especially one in contact with your freind this long.
