Hi,

I have written an Australian girl on connectingsingles.com. After one day she wrote me back and told
me that she has just registered two days ago. Its here first time she is trying to find someone on such a dating site. She has lost her father on duty and does not care about her mother(she is french). Her Father was a petroleum engineer. She has grown up in US but moved back to her home country Australia 6 months ago.
She has no job currently but did an apprenticeship as a tailor. Furthermore she is a counselor who helps poor people who has problems in life.

Scammers want money via Western Union or Money Gram because they can't be traced. I know it's hard to believe because they are very good at manipulating people and it is very painful for their victims. They have no morals and will say anything to get people to send them money. Some of them even get help from professional psychologists. You will hear from the moderators on here soon, but I am sure this is a scammer. Really anyone who asks you for money online, whom you haven't met is a scammer. The English is clearly west African.

And also please don't tell "her" about this site. "She" can use the information to become a better manipulator.

Yes, this certainly does look like a scam set-up. "Her" English isn't perfect, there are signs of "Nigerian English". I won't point them out because we never want to educate scammers. Have you googled "her" name and any other details that she has told you?
If you would please post an email or two, with the headers intact, we might be able to see where the messages are coming from.

I want to agree too that you are not an idiot at all. We are not used to these types criminals until we encounter them ourselves. You can read all the info. about scammers on here, especially the Nigerian ones and it will never happen to you again. That is great that you were able to stop that transfer. FYI - That header comes from Malaysia. There are many cells of Nigerian scammers based in Malaysia.

It's best to cut off all communication to "her" with no explanation. This scammer will just keep lying to you in hopes of getting you to send money. I think you probably understand you are communicating with a Nigerian man. This is not a woman. It's best to just disappear and not let him know you know he is a scammer. If you tell him how you know anything, it will help him be a better scammer. And by the way, that scammer's explanation about the header makes no sense. This is painful for you, but you will recover faster if you just break all ties, and block him from your chat and email. Be aware, he may turn up with new identities to try to get money from you.

He is now using a proxy, since he knows you traced the headers.
