Information on romance scams and scammers.

I have a horrible feeling I have been scammed by a guy calling himself David Frison 45 yrs old stationed in the US Army in Kabul- he approached me via Facebook - it started out innocently but after visiting here and my own gut feelings strongly feel he is not who he says. He writes the most beautiful poems and has all the right words to say, but really can't carry a conversation other than very simple ones, familiar american phrases he doesn't understand. It started out innocently for a couple of weeks, then he told me he received an email from his ex wife in UK about his 14 yr old son becoming deathly sick and he wanted to know if he could wire me money to send to help cover medical expenses (however I told him I believed UK had covered healthcare for residents). I asked him where he was stationed (what base) and he told me he didn't have a base he had a home in Harvest, AL. He of course claimed how God brought us together, and how he was a honest soldier (kept referring to himself as a soldier in various context especially when trying to convey his honesty). Then one day another lady on his friends list (from Australia) sent me a message - only to find out he was telling her the same thing (now i know that doesn't make him a scam but not helping his case) when confronted he told me that she was "bait". Oh there is just so much, the more I write, the more I feel like a fool.

I have lots of information to provide, however I just want to be sure - can someone please search this header - when I did it, I came up with different locations. I don't have lots of "letters" most things come from facebook or yahoo messenger. I want to post his picture and other information. It is such a shame that men use our armed serviceman to deceive woman... at least i sent him no money... thanks for any help or advice you can give me on how to handle this situation.

The use of NNFMP means that we can't get a location. However, it also greatly increases the odds of a scammer, as it often an indicator of a forged header, and is usually connected to spammers and scammers.

I can tell you right now, though, that you are dealing with a scammer.

hi hilary,

With regard to the point that you made about his beautiful poetry, scammers are well known for stealing poetry of the Web. If you've still got the emails, do a search on some of his poetry on Google

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

I wanted to give more information and the picture for everyone to see so not to be trapped like I almost was. When I questioned him about sending the money to the UK - i told him I wanted to investigate myself and he gave me this number 44 701 113 3206 - telling me it was his son's doctor but when i told him the questions I was going to ask he immediately shut down, telling me not to worry about it. Uggg now when i go back and I read the messages back without this wool covering my eyes there were so many warning signs. So what do I do now, block him or will that set off more people like him trying to get involved. I just want to do the right things - any advice would be great. Any information that anyone feels will better enlighten people in the future - I have all his poems, our chats etc. I am just sick to my stomach...

Just ignore future emails. There's no point in challenging him, as he will never stop denying he is a scammer. And if there was any doubt before (there wasn't), the 4470 number that redirects calls to another phone anywhere in the world makes it absolutely certain that it's a scam.

I have done all the investigating I can for this scum - the man he is pretending to be is Chief Warrant Officer Paul Flynn who was killed in a blackhawk crash in Multaka, Iraq on 8/22/2007 and he was from NC and only 30 years old at his passing. These people make me sick - to dishonor our troops who gave their lives. I have verified this guy's email to go to Lagos, Nigeria and his picture listed below - May Paul Flynn rest in peace and may this loser get what he deserves in this life or the next

I can't get his picture to post - here is the link - if anyone can post it back please do so
