Hello

I have also been suspicious of a man called Harry Anderson. address [email protected].
He also became very friendly very fast. Then promised marriage. Then requested me to apply for leave to a Captain David Ross,[email protected], and then send me a letter from the "United Nations", like a voucher, saying APPROVAL OF LEAVE REQUEST, on behalf of the contracted employee. A very good counterfait I think. iT HAS LOGOS AND EVERYTHING THAT LOOKS LEGIT. iT IS UNDERWRITTEN BY bAN kI-MOON, U N SECRETARY GENERAL. wHEN i GOOGLED that I found that General to be on the newsletter. It makes it seems all ok.

Can you verify if he even is an employee at The U S A Army?
Thank you so kindly

Welcome to Scamwarners. Scammers do sometimes impersonate real people, so whether he exists or not is irrelevant. This is a typical scam as it asks you to pay for leave, and if there is a real person with this name, he isn't part of the scam.

I apologize for being blunt, but I believe it is necessary. It really doesn't matter if a soldier by that name really exists, because even if he does, you are not in contact with him. You are writing to an African scammer, plain and simple.

An unrelated civilian CANNOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES apply for leave for a soldier. Even if you were married to a soldier, you would not be able to write his command and request leave, period. The scammer may tell you that it is a new policy, or some special policy set up due to abuse of leave, or that you must apply because he is making you a beneficiary. None of this is true. The US military has never, and will never, allow civilians to make requests like this on behalf of officers. It goes against the basic premise behind their chain of command.

Soldiers apply for leave for themselves, period. Just like vacation time, it is earned based primarily on time served. Extra leave cannot be bought. There are no fees associated with leave. Soldiers do not get large sums of cash when they return, and as far as the US military is concerned, an online relationship is legally the same as no relationship at all. You are not a beneficiary for anything, and are not entitled to any information regarding any soldier.

If you post (or forward) the letters you received, I can probably point out dozens of errors--but again, I don't have to see them to tell you this is a scam. The approval document is nothing more than a photoshop creation. The document is not underwritten by anyone on the UN (the UN does not have authority to grant soldiers leave anyway). The logos are simply copied from the legitimate websites. Anyone who uses photo editing software can create that document (or a better one) in less than half an hour.

Please drop all contact with this scammer immediately. Do not answer any emails, phone calls, or chat requests. Do NOT send any money to anyone. There is more information for victims of romance scams in my signature line.
