I deleted your duplicate of this question. Having it in too many places causes confusion because all of the answers get split up.
I believe this is where the confusion is.
It is possible (unlikely, but possible) that a real soldier will approach you from a yahoo account. The truth is, he is most likely a scammer if he approaches you from yahoo.
But to confirm for certain: You should ask him for his .mil email address, and he should give it to you. If he will not give it to you, he is fake.
If he gives it to you, you need to send him an email at that address, and he needs to reply to it. If he cannot do this, then he is fake.
