welcome to the forum Phil
I realized that your pics were stolen and abused by scammers
I marked them as stolen and also mentioned in my post that they were stolen from an innocent person, i.e. you.
With regard to your PM ... you cannot do anything against it :(
identity theft happens all the time and I think it is important that this is posted here
scammers probably won't use your photos anymore as it is known now that any person claiming to be Elvis Washington or whoever is not a real person...
this helps future victims not to fall for their scams
all pictures posted in this forum are stolen from innocent people who have nothing to do with fraud and scam
I hope you'll understand the reasoning and mission behind this forum, i.e.to warn, advise, and increase awareness about internet fraud, thanks.

Thanks for your reply. I understand the purpose of the forum. I'm an amateur "scam buster" myself, having learned to spot scammers over the years. I'm on Tagged and probably get contacted by a few scammers every day. I'm just surprised someone chose to use MY photos. Scammers usually use the photos of some smoking hot model or porn star such as Raven Riley. I'm just an ordinary geek, and nobody has ever described me as "smoking hot" unless I was actually on fire. :D

Your detective work is accurate. I am the real person in the photos, and those are my real LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. MySpace is a distant memory but I do recall having an account there too.

Welcome Phil,

I don't know what photos are on the myspace account, but if there are any others to steal, you might want to see if you can kill it.

Romance scammer tactics can be rather interesting.

When they are posing as females, scammers typically use photos of women under 30, often bikini models or porn girls like Raven Riley. That's because they most often use sex as one of the primary lures to hook their victims. Their character is also typically young, innocent, submissive, and if she works, she is most often in a "feminine" profession (hairdresser, model, nurse, etc.)

But when they are playing males, they have moved away from the model photos and have started using more photos of "real" men, often in their mid 40's to 60's. Instead of sex, romance is their primary tool, and the promise of a safe, settled future. Their characters are typically world travelers in more "masculine" professions (engineer, architect, worldly businessman) with high incomes (though somehow they always seem to have problems getting that money anyway). Or (in another related scam format) they use photos of men in uniform and pose as soldiers.

I just opened a badoo account last weekend while researching a scammer, and the darn thing has already been approached by around 3 dozen romance scammers. One of those scammers used a photo of a motivational speaker; one of a retired army general (stupid choice, too, as he was all over the news when he was removed from his position for statements he made to the press); one was a part-time actor (not extremely attractive) with a profile on starnow. The rest--they were all "average" men, and the photos were undoubtedly stolen from some real person's social networking page somewhere on the internet.

While you're here, feel free to post the scammers who approach you as well! You never know who you might help.
