You are right in thinking that is not a real AKO address-real AKO addresses do not end in ako.com, they end in .mil Please do NOT tell the scammer this, though--it is better if he keeps making mistakes like this, as it will help the next person he tries to scam.

In regards to whether he is a soldier or a fake. He is a real Soldier serving for our country this very moment. He is in a War Zone. I am his wife. I understand what this website stands for. However, placing my Husband's pictures with warning stating that "This image (HIS image) or document has been used and possibly stolen by someone for identity fraud or crime". Due to your website posting of his pictures and his email address. Has caused us emotional distress and sadness. It is CRUEL for him, along with his family, to be punished. Especially while knowing He is a SOLDIER in a War Zone. He does not need any other issues to worry about. Everyday he has to worry if he is going to be shot at or live to see the next day. I am very upset with this posting. We need to support our Soldiers. Too many people go on with their lives and not realized our country is at war. For future you should really check before putting that awful statement on someone else's love ones. PLEASE REMOVE HIS PICTURES OFF YOUR WEBSITE. HE DID NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO POST IT ON YOUR WEBSITE. We would greatly appreciate your cooperation on this matter immediately.
We,(wife and children), family, are praying everyday for "My Real Soldier",to come home safely.
By the way He did respond to your remake about he should delete his private information on his profile. He
politely stated he did not know what this was about. That he did not put his information on his profile. It would not be safe for anyone to do that let alone a Real Soldier. At the end He said "Thank you". This should not have been ignored.So PLEASE DELETE HIS PICTURES OFF THIS WEBSITE. It is causing harm then good.

If I can be with my husband right now we would be together. But not in Nigeria. We would be at home with our family in the United States. You must of not check me out. For you to ask that silly question. However, in reality being a military family we have no chose in the matter. Because he and other US Soldiers are serving for our country...YOU are able to speak freely. PLEASE have kindness for our request. Remove my husband's information on your website. Thank you.

I'm more than a little bit confused, and I suspect you may be confused also. Are you telling us that we cannot check you out to verify your story? Because without some kind of supporting evidence, the posted information will not be removed.

The information in this thread very clearly shows that the posted email address and photos are being used by a scammer. Email to that address was opened not in a war zone, but in Nigeria. The person using that address provided a fake (nonexistent) military address.

I can only think of 3 explanations that make any would explain why this email is being used by a scammer and you are posting this here.

1) your husband's email address is similar to, but not the same, as the scammer email address posted here.
2) you are a victim of a romance scam yourself, who has been falsely led to believe that you are in a relationship with a soldier who is serving in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, if that is the case, you
3) You are an accomplice to a scammer.

As far as this statement goes:

We need to support our Soldiers.

We do in fact support our soldiers. One of the ways we do this is by helping people to understand that they are not involved in the scams abusing their photos (and sometimes their names). We post this information to help people to avoid being scammed, but also to make it more difficult for scammers to abuse soldiers' information.

If your husband is a soldier, he will have real AKO email address. We can easily resolve this situation, by having him send me an email at the address in my signature, from his AKO address. He can confirm whether he is the owner of the posted yahoo address. Without evidence to contradict the information posted here, the topic will remain.
