Romance Scammer????

Hi I'm new to this site and my story is. I was approached on a SeniorMeet Senior dating site on Feb. 29th of 2012. A gentleman approached me in chat and wanted to exchange email addresses. We had been exchanging emails for the about a week and then he sent me his phone (cell)no which was a California number. He claimed to live in Sherman Oaks, Ca. but could not find any information on him. When I first spoke was surprised at his broken english for someone living in the US for 21 years. He claimed to be a Civil Enginner and was soon to possibly get a big job over in Malaysia. Well into about three weeks after he supposedly ended up in Malaysia his contract he had for building a service station was stopped because of some money issues. He claimed he had invested a lot of money into this job and was lacking funds to pay the taxes so they could open the job site. I had been receiving such loving emails prior to this and he called regularly on the phone daily. Then came the letter of his problem and he was lacking around 6K so he could start the work. He started pressuring me if I could help but all along he knew I was not in any financial postion to help him. But up until the other day he still has been asking me for money. He promised he would not ask and then as days go by he starts again. He has professed his love to me and says when he gets back to the states he will make things right. It's been very emotional on both myself and my sister since this all started. He sent some beautiful pictures of a very attractive mature man age 57. He goes by the name Wesley Englund but have not been able to find anything on this man. My sister was able to figure out the IP number from the emails and it looks like the emails he sent prior to his trip to Malaysia were from Malaysia. I just stumbled across this site today and was wondering if anyone could help me more on who this might be and I pity the poor man whose pictures he has sent me because I don't believe it is the same man I've been talking with. It's been a very emotional drain on myself and my sister who has been helping me. I don't know what I should do. He has my P.O. Box, home phone number and cell and wonder if he shall stop calling me. I've convinced myself that he is not the man in the pictures. He is smart to have a California phone number that he calls me from when he calls but is in Malaysia. I've fallen for him but have not given him any money but it's been an emotional drain on me. He called the other day and started singing to me on the phone which was so out of his character I didn't know what to expect next.

Yes, that's definitely a scammer that you are in contact with. The best thing to do now is to stop all contact with him. Block him from your email and phone.
Please post the email address and phone number that the scammer was using in order to help warn other potential victims.

I'm very sorry to say your suspicions are correct you have been communicating with a scammer. He's not the man in the pictures but more than likely a Nigerian native living in Malaysia which has a large population of Nigerian scammers. The story you told is very typical of a romance scammer. The CA number is a VOIP number like Skype or Magic Jack to give the illusion he's in the US he is not.

Most important thing is drop all communications with the scammer now. There is no use confronting him he is a liar for a living her will not admit he is a scammer. Block his chat, delete emails and don't answer his calls.

Although its not ideal he has your personnel info it's not much to worry about either. The scammer is after money not to hurt you. He may harras you for a while but he will eventualy give up and move on.

Thanks so much for your quick replys. This scammer is going by the name of Wesley Englund and is using a hotmail account as [email protected]. I could also enclose the pictures but not sure how to post them. He sent us two in the beginning and when we asked for more he sent another additoal three of himself. He ketp telling my sister why would I send pictures if it wasn't me.

Copying and pasting is fine. Just remove your own name (though you will probably find on review that he rarely used your name, but instead used terms of endearment like Baby, honey, etc. )

Any comments are welcome to the way he writes and I shall send a few more that I didn't quite understand. I felt at first he was being very sincere and honest when he wrote.

I'm also sending the source from the email and I assume this possibly came from Malaysia when he said he was in California if someone could make this clear to me. I tried on my own and felt that the IP was from Malaysia but want to be sure.
