can somebody please tell me, if you are on webcam on yahoo, is it the "REAL" person you are seeing??

It is possible to spoof web cam feeds using pre-recorded video, so no it is not necessarily the person you are speaking to that you are seeing.

A good way of telling is to ask them to do something specific such as wave to you. If it is pre-recorded then they won't be able to react to your request.

I come accross fake webcams quite regularly!

Here is one of the most prolific ones:

A few pointers to show its fake....

1) as previously stated..try to get him to react...the scammer will be unable to do as you ask, so will either :
get angry as to why you are asking these things OR
shut down his cam blaming 'technical issues' or "connection problems"

2) Does cam freeze, jump, or replay?

3) Are you getting messages when its obvious the man in the clip is not typing?

4) If he cams more than once..is it the same clip?

5) is the scammer over-eager to show 'his' cam and over-demanding to see yours??

To answer your questions

1. we spoke last night on yahoo messenger, I tried to video call him, but he wouldnt answer.... we spoke for probably 1 hr & then he asked me would I show my cam, to which i did. When he 1st tried to add me on the cam & dark skinned man showed up, I neally died, but I didnt say anything , this image stayed for about 10 seconds, shame I havent worked out how to snapshot, this is my 1st time being on yahoo messenger. The screen went black & displayed a error message, then he added me again. We instant messaged with the cam on for probably another 1hr. I was watching him like a hawk, he did wave to me at 1st, but when I asked again, there was no response.

2. Im fairly certain this man is a scammmer, & that I was seeing a replay. His arm movements were the same about every 10 mins, I made some funny comments, but not once did I see him smile or laugh.

3. Yes diffentley getting messages with no movement from him.

4. We have only used the cam twice, the furniture in the backgroung was the same, but I asked him had he moved the room around as I could see his wall unit & TV, which wasnt on, he told me he had just moved his chair around .

5. No he's not over eagar, but it's when he wants & not straight up when we 1st speak. He was very eager tho to hang up quickly last night. Apparently now gone to Turkey for a Art show, & to see his mother who apparently lives in Italy. He says he will be back in 2 weeks, so I'm waiting for the money question..... He wont get any!!!!!
