Hi,

I have been chatting to a US Marine Corps called Dustin Hall on Badoo.com, been chatting to him for about 2 months, he is in Afghanistan and not sure how long his assignment is, he says he wanted to come over to England to be with me.

He says he is 37 years old and is a widow with a 5 year old girl, he also says he has got no family apart from cousins, and has got a cousin who lives in Manchester, UK. "Dustin" has sent me photos of himself and also aHis ID on Yahoo Messenger is Dustinhall706.I have even told him my worries about him not being who he says he, is but makes me feel guilty about thinking like that. I am also unwell with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which I have told him about and he has looked it up on the internet as he seems to be more understanding, I don't work because of it. Even though I have told him I don't work because of my illness he still expects me to pay (he keeps saying I will get it refunded, yeah right!!).

He said I had to e mail [email protected] telling them I am e mailing on Dustin's behalf, which I did and even telling them that I am his fiancé, even though we have't been chatting long and haven't even spoken to him or even met him!, the e mail he asked me to send was :

I will be looking forward to receive reply in regard to my request, and I'll be very grateful if my request can be giving a favorable consideration.

I sent this e mail which he drafted for me and the response was :

This is to inform you that your mail was received in respect to your Leave/Transit Application, in favor of SGT. DUSTIN HALL, I am LT.GEN.DAVID RODRIGUEZ, and it is my duty to give you proper guide line in finalizing your Transit Application for SGT. DUSTIN HALL. Furthermore, most times transit are granted based on the request of a spouse, which further implies that all bills will be footed by the spouse or the person requesting for such Transit of an officer as stated by Marine Corps Agency Regulation act 5 CFR 2653.401 through 503 USC . This bill is just a sum to guarantee that, the officer will actually be going to the predetermine destination that sum will be used to arrange logistics, security risk coverage, and likes. I said to Dustin after I received this reply that I can't afford to pay this money as I am not able to work due to an illness, he spoke to is "Commander" about it and he agreed to pay quite a big sum of it and also a "work colleague" said he will pay some as well, so all I have got left to pay was £40 (can't remember how much that was in America dollars), I have't paid it as the account details are :

The command is committed to help our war fighters and do everything
to support them and their family, fiancee and spouse respectively.
Money for officer deployed to Africa and Middle East are paid via West

I don't feel safe paying that money into an account in Nigeria. I even sent an e mail asking if I could pay it once Dustin arrives in England and their replay was :

Dear xxxx,
In respect to your request, it's not possible for us to
realease Dustin Hall on leave vacation without fufilling the
necessary requirment under wish transit of an deployed of
ficer is being approved.
I'm to inform you with all respect that unless the whole
payment is made, it will be difficult for the corps to let him
go on leave vacation.

I was speaking to Dustin today and he is still insisting that i pay it as he wants to be with me. I am pretty sure it is a scam but would like to know if its me being paranoid. I would love him to be real but i doubt very much that he is.

Hope this message isn't too long, if there is anything else you want to know then ask and I can always ask "Dustin" some other questions. I have even told him about this website. I left him a message on Badoo, that if he wants to come over to see me then he will have to pay the rest of the money!

Also do you report these scams to the Department of Defence(I think that is what it is called in America)? as this is fraud and I feel really sorry for the people who are being scammed, especially ones who actually pay the money and loose it, I also feel sorry for the Soliders whose identity is being taken.

It is a definite scam.

Army leave is not paid for and is not applied for by people outside of the army.

In real life leave is earned by the soldier and applied for by him/her.

Additionally, the email address that you've been told to write to @usa.com is a free email address and not a real military address that would end .mil.

I would recommend that you just cut off all communication with this scammer as all he is interested in is your money and will tell you any lie/do anything in order to get it.

There is absolutely no doubt about this. You are being scammed.

There is no such thing as a leave request put in by someone outside the US military. There is no such thing as paying for leave.

Soldiers must request leave for themselves. Leave is only granted if the soldier has earned it through time served. When it is granted, the military will fly the soldier home, without charge.

You have never been in contact with a soldier. You have only been in contact with a young African man, most likely from Nigeria or Ghana. He may be working alone, playing all roles, or he may be working in a scamming gang, but in the end, you have not actually been in contact with anyone who is American or associated with the American military.

The military is fully aware of these scams, and they have issued warnings about them repeatedly.

Please cut off all contact with this scammer. Do not confront him with being a scammer. He will continue to lie to you, no matter how much evidence you have to the contrary. He is a criminal, and lying is what he does.

Please post any other email addresses or phone numbers that have been used in this scam, as they will help other potential victims.

Thank you for the replies to my post. I thought it was a scam, I won't message "Dustin" again. When I spoke to my mum and dad about it they said the same. I am really glad I have found this website as I would have given him the benefit of the doubt and paid the money. When I posted my e mails on here I should have thought about removing my name, thank you for doing that. Its a shame that they are trying to con innocent people out of money. Thank you again.

Yeah that is "Dustin", how did you get that photo? Just been talking to my mum about this and is a shame that they do succeed in conning/scamming people out of lots of money.
