You've got a BUDDY REQUEST

Since bring scammed once before, I have been on high alert & have actually removed myself from all dating sites. However, I have been receiving emails from some unknown source stating I have a buddy request. I have gotten about a dozen or more from all different names, BUT the pics attached are all of the same guy. I cannot find out from what site its originating because when I click on it it says the page cannot be found. I am hopeful that by posting this pic, which there are three varieties of this guy, someone else might be warned. How do I do this?

I wouldn't worry too much about that one. What you are describing is actually typical of a sleazy marketing approach--a questionable dating or social networking site sends out emails in bulk, claiming that you have a buddy, or an admirer, or someone is looking for you (for example reunion.com used to automatically tell people someone was looking for them.) In reality, it is an attempt to get you to click on their site (and possibly to join if it is a paid membership site.)

In general, it is best not to follow these links, as it is always possible that the linked site contains a virus. Just delete the messages and move on.

That is so him. Thanks for posting the pic. Now I don't need to. And that's the message. This scammer is not very bright since he keeps sending the same guys picture with all the different names to the same people!

I keep getting exactly the same photos sent to me and its so annoying, even tho i keep blocking them I keep getting more.
How do i stop this??

Hi mistique. Maybe adjust your e-mail settings? I have mine ramped up whereby any suspect messages go directly into the spam folder. Then once a fortnight or some other convenient time, simply delete everything in the spam folder. Hey Presto, it's all gone! The important thing to remember is not replying to the individual and after a while the nuisance will stop.
