WAYN GHANA Emmanuel Mingle

There are romance scammers trolling WAYN.com, that's a travel network. I was bored and decided to waste the time of one calling themself Cynthia Amoafoa. She had an attractive picture posted and about a zillion guy friends (Guys she's tried to scam before). She said she was in Tema, Ghana.

She quickly got us chatting over on Yahoo and was soon professing her love for me and agreeing to come to the US. She asked me to send money to Ghana via Western Union. Her said she had an uncle pulling strings with the US embassy to get her a speedy visa. Her "Uncle" was named Emmanuel Mingle. That's who I was supposed to send the money to, so that name may be real - that's probably who I was talking to the whole time. The address provided was 22 Homowo Street, Accra - Ghana 00233.

Right now I've told them I've sent $2500 and they're badgering me for the MTC number. I'm playing dumb. Hopefully they're wasting lots of time at the local Western Union office. Tomorrow I'm planning on telling them that there has been a mistake and that the money was sent to a different Western Union office. I've got one picked out in a place called Navrongo clear on the other side of the country . Anybody have any idea how long it would take to go 500 miles in Ghana? I don't either, but I'll bet it would be a painful trip.

Welcome to ScamWarners jonylongball. We don't recommend you mess with a scammer who has your real email address. Scammers have been known to harass people who mess with them and don't comply. They are able to do this to real life because people often have their email address closely attached to their life.

It would also help others if you will post up the email addresses from each of these characters the scammer is presenting. It IS often the same person playing the parts.

I recommend you drop dealing with this scammer.

People can pick up a Western Union transfer any place in the world if they have the MTC number. Designating it to go to a particular office really doesn't mean anything. Scammers know this, but try to fool victims into thinking they are designating one place for pick up.

Thanks for the advice. The email the scammer was using was [email protected]. I told the scammer that due to fraud warnings the money was being held by the bank manager in the far away city. Not sure if I can get them to go there. Probably the first thing we need to know to avoid scams is how Western Union transactions work. I see now that the profile has been removed from WAYN.com.
