Hi.
I have just registered to this site as I am.also in contact with a SPC Frank Westly who is in Afghan and with the 72 Regt Batallion disarming bombs. We met on a dating site and he seems real, still does but I googled him last night and found this bit about him and for leave. He has always said that Soldiers cannot get outsiders to apply for leavevetc and cant understand men scamming women. Everything he hss said has been consistent to date. Hecwas due to retire at the end of this month but then said cos of cuts etc they had to stay for another 5/6 months and he couldnt do it anymore and wanted to "come home" as his late dad left him a cocoa business and he was going to run it.

Then came the he can leave if he can get a replacement officer but will have to be responsible for him coming and as in the war zone, doesnt have access to money only what the Army give them as a little allowance. Hevhas nobfamily and said if I could give him £350 towards the replacement Officer as his Boss was going to loan him some money too and I would pay into a Lloyds Bank Account which was a female friend of his Boss! He kept on so much that I agreed (yes stupid I know...) to get him finished from there. Then I got an email the next day from the Armyleave dept as posted on your forum saying he has completed his clearance and I was his next of kin this was to notify me of his flight details but because it was personal they are not responsible for paying his flight!!

I told him and he was 'surprised and saddened" and didnt know.....Prior to that I hsd checked flights from Kabul to Uk and saw flights cheaper that was quoted by Klm and he wasnt flying from Kabul only Pskistan!! He has asked foracfurther £350 and he can raise the rest for the flight and will now fly.from Kabul and the.transit will book once they receive the money!! I have questioned him about all this and he has answered it all....I was totally convinced hecwas genuine as he keeps sending me beautiful.poems snd emails plus pics.of him inbhis uniform and theynlook genuine - he looks genuine....but tonight I was on this site just.looking and saw his email....word for word!!! I just feel sick snd dead inside now!!

I have resd enough in mags about these scammers and have been done over myself by this guy!! We have chatted on phone and he has the american accent, snd we msn morning and evening. Maybe he is real.....and he has been cloned? Is what I said true about him having to pay and be respinsible for a replacement Officer and would the Army be responsible for his flight?

I would be really grateful for any advice you can give me....If he.is a scammer I will kick myself for being an idiot or do you think he is being scammed. I really liked him too.....

I'm going to be blunt here. He is an African scammer, not an American soldier. There is a zero percent chance of him being real.

The "replacement officer fee" is as fake as the whole leave request. It's just another scammer story--total fiction.
Either a soldier is eligible to go home, or he isn't. If his tour is up, the military makes arrangements to get him home, at no cost to him. If he is not eligible, he can't go, period. He can't buy leave. If he left when we wasn't allowed, he would be arrested. It really is that simple.

Also--soldiers DO have access to their money. The US military makes sure of that.
And, the whole "Next of Kin" forms are more scammer BS. The US military does NOT recognize unrelated women who are not married to a soldier as next of kin. If he were a real soldier (he's not) and you were writing him, even if he claimed to be engaged to you, the US military would see you as nothing more than a pen pal. You would NOT receive any formal communication from them, and you would NOT be eligible for any of his benefits. And in reality, even if you were married to him, you would still have nothing to do with arranging his leave--wives have no part of those arrangements.
