Information on romance scams and scammers.

This is worth reading. It starts as a romance scam, and then develops into something else, as she is, again, scammed into sending money to someone pretending to be a lawyer wanting to help her to catch the original scammer.

A romance victim targeted by a recovery scam by the same scammer. It happens too often. I find both romance scams and recovery scams particularly vile. Thanks for the link, 54321.

Have you sent a payment to a scammer with Western Union and now realize it's a scam? If the payment has not been picked up, you can cancel it immediately! 1-800-448-1492

You're welcome

I'd like to see more news stories published on here, so we can all keep learning about scammers. Sometimes, it's hard to keep ourselves educated about the different types of scams. It's important to post scamming experiences, but also to proactively educate ourselves.

I think that the women should be carefully about a man but the scammers are very cleaver
I was in touch with a man who lied to me all the time. So, a day, I noticed that new men contacted me, with different names from different countries.
So, when I saw that the things were under control, I changed the strategy, created a problem in my life and I spoke to him. He disappeared. When he returned, I told him he was being contacted by a scammer and I was not me...lol....
So, he left me forever...

Were you scammed?

The scammers keep inventing new ways to scam, and they are opportunists, unfortunately. Plenty of vulnerable people fall for the scams.

I'm trying to educate my friends about sites such as this, and the need to verify factual info before sending money (and that they should only ever send money via traceable means). I find the easiest way to educate them is to demonstrate the scams, with emails I have received, and showing how they are scams.

I hope my friends are then educating their friends.

Yes! I was scammed.
In the beginning of the situation I couldn´t believe that the man who promised many things was lying. It was terrible.
I found the same photos he sent to me on Facebook and there I discovered that that man was married and there i found his wife name. So, i contacted her and she told me that she is married to him and he really works in Afghanistan.
Ok...The man who had relationship with me was using photos of a real soldier who works at US ARMY.
I confronted him and he said that the woman was lying and he created another story: He gave me his real name(of course, false)...
AFter that, he tried to convince me to take the card number of my children. Second him, he would send money to their account and then I would send the money to his family in USA.
I really don´t know to explain you but the scammers are like DON JUAN.And if you dont be carefull, they will destroyer you.
The first weeks after I knew his real intention I suffered a lot. But I did not pay attention to.
Simply told him I AM NOT A REAL WOMAN. I AM SO SORRY. I STOLEN THE EMAIL ADDRESS OF A COLEAGUE,,,
If he did not believe I do not know..I KNOW ONLY THAT AFTER THAT HE LEFT..NEVER ANSWERED ME ANYTHING AT ALL.
