Welcome to Scamwarners Raven100 and I regret to inform you that he won't be coming home because he's an internet scammer who is already at home, not in Afghanistan.

US soldiers don't have to pay for leave. They get it as part of their contract without cost. The fact that he tries to steal money from you using this story is proof that he is a scammer and neither the US army nor US soldiers use Western Union, they have bank accounts, and there is no earthly reason why the money should go to Malaysia. There are quite a few West African scammers at university in Malaysia and the person you are sending the money to is quite likely to be his local girlfriend, or another victim/dupe.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle

Above poster is spot on, it is a scam. The man you have been talking to is not in the army, he is a scammer. Do not under any circumstances send this guy any money. There isn't a job in the world I know of where you have to pay your employer money to go on holiday and the army is no exception to this rule.

Please Raven100, stop all forms of communications with the trickster. If you scroll to the top of this page you see the site search function on the right hand side. Type the words, military scam or military leave, or words to that effect and the results that show on the screen will amaze you. What you describe in your post is a very frequent scam scenario I'm sad to say. Is like you paying your employer when you wish to have holidays. And we all know that does not happen. What is the email header telling you? The reason scammers use wu is because the money transference acts quickly for the scammer. Once the funds have been collected by the scammer, kiss your money bye bye because no recourse is available to you. Not only are so called internet dating sites unsafe, scammers are everywhere on fb too I'm sad to say.
