Information on romance scams and scammers.
by Ralph Wed Apr 02, 2008 6:07 am
One small detail that I thought I should add at the start of this thread is that the scammer has begun using a different name, he now calls himself "James Anthony and James White along with other names.

More details will be added to the end of the thread

I am getting loads of information in from my contact in Nigeria, as I do I am adding it here so please look at the most recent posts for the latest information I have recieved in regards to this scammer

Adding another email address [email protected]

Edited to add, in recent times he has adjusted his script, he will tell you he loves you and eventualy tell you he is coming to live with you, he will not make it and you will then recieve an email from his lawyer telling telling you he has been detained for not declaring jewels that he is carrying with him, of course these jewels were meant for you.
Again this is all lies desogned to steal your money, please read on for other details I have managed to get on this scammer

Just for the record, this scammers Ip is 196.200.3.123, that is of course subject to change as he changes internet cafes

Scammers have a huge variety of ways to convince you to send money, this is one of the less common ways,
Basicaly he will fall in love, tell you he is sending some goods to you and will require your help, the goods will be seized and he will then see his laywer who will contact you.

If you truely loved him you would send $4,000 to keep him out of jail

Of course this is just another way of robbing people of their money

Scammers often involve new charactors to add legitimacy to their scam, in this case he asumes the identity of a lawyer.

Here is an email connected to the scammers bank, just another part of the scam, some details removed for security reasons.

It came from [email protected] I couldn't get a search hit on the email address so I searched on @accountant.com and got This Result or refine the search by including the word "scam" in the search terms for This result

Doing the same thing for Lawyer.com including the word "scam" gives This result

Mail.com is very popular with scammers as they can make their email address look more legitimate by using it, of course, you dont have to be real lawyer or accountant to have one, set one up for yourself if you like but be warned that mail.com are notorious for selling your details as well as giving you viruses, they are only too happy to help scammers steal from people.

i want you to know that i will do my best to get mark out of this trouble.

Yours sincerly

Like ScamWarners, http://www.romancescam.com is a site dedicated to helping victims of scammers, as the name suggest they concentrate more on the love scams and have a huge collection of information

Included in that information is a thread for the purpose of listing scammers who use the same Photo as the scammer in this case.

Click Here to see how many scammers use the same photos of Joby from Focus Hawaii, some of those scammers are no doubt connected to this one, finding which is a huge job and one that will need to wait for now.

Here is another email you may recieve from this scammer.

Dear XXXX,

I don't know how to start this letter, because I'm afraid it might be the end of our good acquaintance, or if I'm lucky, the realization of my dreams, which is for you to love me as I love you. I told myself I might as well take the risks because it's the only remedy I know that could unburden this feeling I've been keeping ever since.

XXXX, I love you. I know you'll find it hard to believe me if I tell you now how much you mean to me. I could hardly understand what I feel for you, knowing how to endure those long sleepless nights just thinking only of you. I've never been like this before. I just don't know how to pour out my feelings for you. I wanted to find the perfect words to make you realize how much I need you and love you, but words continue to elude me, what would they be? Something poetic? I'm sure it should be heartfelt and out of the ordinary. I'm afraid it's no use; every time I look at your pictures, the words came out the same… I love you!

Love always,

mark

I have warned several potential victims of this scammer, some of those I warn continue to write to the scammer and on one occasion a person I warned forwarded my warning to the scammer.

In light of this I have put together a standard follow up warning that contains an extra search link that I thought will help anybody who has found this link after being approached by "Mark Smith".

For those who have not seen it, I have posted it below, Innocent persons name removed.

I have recently sent you a standard warning email in regards to Mark Smith, he is a scammer who operates on the internet lieing to his victims trying to convince them to send money, scammers will make up all kinds of lies including sick family members, lost wallets, muggings or stuck in a foreign country. This particular fraudster will most likely fall in love quickly, he will send you photos of himself that he has stolen from a modelling site called focus Hawaii, he uses photos of a model called Jobi the following link will show the search results for ( "focus hawaii" jobi ) http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q ... arch&meta= (please be mindfull that he may in the future change his pictures)

He will want to get married and go to your location and he may suggest that he will bring gifts, he will send you an email supposedly from Brittish Airways showing his flight details, the details will be correct however the email will be fruadulent.

His Lawayer will then contact you fom an email address such as [email protected] this is a free email domain that anybody can get an email address from, the lawyer will suggest he has been detained for smugglng jewels which were supposedly for you,

You may also be contacted by his Aunt, his child or his accountant, all of these people are in fact the same person, an African who uses the name "Mark Smith" to scam women.

Some variation in his storyline has been noted but what i have outlined above is the most likely course he will take

All of what he says are lies, he is simply attempting to steal your money and he has unfortunately become very good at it.

You can find further information on this individual by searching on his email address http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=g ... 0yahoo.com where you will see that my warning is genuine, for convenience I have already done this and included the link to the google search result.

My other warning may have ended up in your spam folder as it contains links to various sites where you can find further information, please take the time to find and read the email which will help you to avoid scammers in the future.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me or visit www.scamwarners.com

The most important things to remember are
Do not sent money to persons you know only from the internet
Do not send personnal details to persons you know only from the internet
Please reply to this email so that I know you have recieved my warning

The other thing I ask of you and it is very important and that is to not mention this warning, this was done previously by victim of his and it led to some persons not being identified and subsequently being scammed, if you still doubt my warning please ask and I will provide further proof that this person is not genuine.

This scammer is very smooth, he really does know what women want to hear and he is only too happy to tell you, I guess it's a skill that comes with practice made easy by the fact that he lies through his teeth, the only true thing he is likely to tell you is that he is in Nigeria, he is Nigerian so of course he is  , for what he lacks in English skills, he can make up for with his scripted love poems and love letters.

The tools of the scammer trade used by this criminal are very effective, I know of several women who have sent him money, at the time of writing this I am worried that another girl is about to pay, if you find this post and need me to point out evidence that you are being scammed please ask and I will do so happily

Here is an example of one of the romantic emails you may recieve from him

Dear xxxxx,

I don't know how to start this letter, because I'm afraid it might be the end of our good acquaintance, or if I'm lucky, the realization of my dreams, which is for you to love me as I love you. I told myself I might as well take the risks because it's the only remedy I know that could unburden this feeling I've been keeping ever since.

(Unsuspecting victim's name again for good measure), I love you.

Love always,

mark

Another romantic email,

Again, all lies designed to steal your money
Dear Wife,

Honey, you have changed my life completely. You're the one who makes me beautiful. You're the one who makes me strong. You're the one who makes me feel so important; you're everything to me.

You show your love to me every day. I thank God that I have found a woman like you. Please forgive me for not giving you enough time to chat with me, but I promise I will make up for it once we are together.

All that I can offer you is a family ,love and support. I can offer you a family, love and support that will stick together through the good and the bad. I can offer you a family that will support each other every day. Honey, all i can give you is happiness...I hope that’s what you want.

I really wish that you were near me. I wish that I could just call your name when I needed you and that you would be there. However, knowing that you love me so much is enough for now, and if I can be your husband and a father to your children, then I would wait forever to be with you. Ti amo tesoro mio. You're the only one that I want.

Love Always,

mark

Scammer will fall in love quickly and send many prewritten romantic emails,

The following email refers to you as his wife,

Dear mrs smith,

I was on my way to bed and wanted to write you a little note. Thank you so much for having so much faith in me and in us as a couple. Thank you for making me a better person, and for giving your heart to me and opening up so much.

Over the last month, it's been wonderful; I never expected to feel this way nor actually be with you in this way, experiencing life with you. You are wonderful ... to me. You make me really happy and even though we are apart , it's made up each time I chat with you and talk to you again. The feeling that I get is overwhelming every time that I i dream of meeting you for the first time in such a long time and as time goes by my feelings for you grow dramatically.

I was thinking so much about that earlier tonight, when I am going to meet you at the airport. I am getting butterflies in my stomach just at the thought of seeing you . You make everything complete and I can't imagine spending time with someone else and having these feelings for anyone else. I'm anxious to see you again Jo. Time is ticking, and it's going by really slow.

It takes a strong woman to accomplish everything that you have in your life, I am proud of you that you stick to your goals, you have improved your life so much from what it was before and I am so happy that you respect my beliefs as I respect yours. You say that you are going to make me a happy man ... well, you have already done that, just by being you and showing me love and being so open with your feelings. You are what I dreamed of when I was a little guy, someone with integrity, honesty, love, affection, pretty, and with such a charming personality. I never thought I would find you, but here you are.

I love you so much, and can't wait to be with you again. I want to give you my heart and soul. I don't care about anything else in the world because I am in love with you, Jo. I love you. Thank you Jo, for you have made all of my dreams come true. I could not ask for more. I am the luckiest man in the world to be called your husband, I'm truly honored. Thank you.

Love always,

mark

After much research and help from Chris Smith, I have found the source of some of the love poems that he steals, one example of a love poem can be found by clickingHere

If you know what to look for and have some time, you could try some google searches on his or any other love scammers poems, of course he would have told you he wrote them himself so finding them on a website is a pretty good give away that he is simply lieing again.

To search on a poem to see if it already exists on the internet, try looking for a complete line and do a google search on it, an exact google search will narrow down your results

Edited with another link to the source of some more of the poems he says he wrote himself Click Here

And yet another Click Here

Sometimes they even forget to remove names from the poems, another sure give away that they have stolen it to impress you and grease your purse strings that little bit more.

If you notice mistakes and get tipped off that he is scamming you please dont point them out to him, he will simply remove the mistakes making him even more successfull.

It should also be noted that even as recently as today, he is still emailig, chating and getting girls to ring him in an attempt to steal their money, it's his job and he is certainly not ready to quit now

by Ralph Fri Aug 22, 2008 9:44 pm
This scammer Mark Smith is so confident with his Lawyer and detained by police at the airport script that he is using it for some of his scamming friends.

Here is another example of a script I posted earlier but this one has a different name

Dear madam,

Am Mr james Anthony , i been hired by Mr Nick Harvey.I called you earlier today to inform you about Mr Nick Harvey that he had been detained by the authority at the airport but could not get through to you.

Mr Nick was arrested at the aiport while about boarding a British Airways plane to ( real location removed, it will be an airport near you),he was arrested by the Nigerian customs Service for smuggling: he did not declare the diamond ring and other jewerlies he had on him to the custom officials and so did not pay export duties on the jewerlies .

Mr Nick asked me to inform you about this development,he says he did not know and did not mean to smuggle the jewerlies that he did not know about such policies/laws, he says the jewerlies where meant for you.

I want you to know that i will do my best to get Nick out of this bad situation.

Yours sincerly
James Anthony (s.a.n)
