for six days now i have been contacted by someone who claims he is general curtis michael surving in afghanistan at this moment.he contacted me via skype and after the first few lines started to flirt with me and it took not long before he was asking for money,to be precise ..he wants 1500 dollars for a ticket to come to norway, where i live,he wants me to send the money via western union to his agent in ghana so this agent can sort out the ticket,i got suspisious but asked for details...this is what he gave me...:uruone desmond, ghana, accra, testquestion:good, answer:friend plus e-mail adress he is using now..:[email protected] to send him the copy of western union after the transaction.he is claiming he wants to retire from the military and can not buy a ticket with his own money because everything in afghanistan is down, and when he comes here he will give the money back with intrest.he claims he has a 14 year old son who goes to school in the uk.and his wife died in a car accident a couple of years ago.he knows a lot about the person he is claiming to be and supports this with fotos,it must have taken a lot of time to be so accurate with answering questions.i was not planning to send money but started checking the net on him and came to this site where alarm bells started ringing for real,he is still on skype at this moment,my question is what i should do from here???greetings ..jeanette bukva.

I am happy you ask the question. A high ranking officer would not be seeking money from you. May I suggest you only accept friend contacts on skype of people you know and trust. Block the trickster and have no more contact with it is the best idea.

another question i have ....how is it possible for this person to contact me on skype?you have to know my name and such...

Check your privacy settings in skype, by default it lets anybody contact you. You can set it to only allow calls and messages from people in your contact list.

A real General would not be on Skype hunting women, 7 days a week. Generals are busy men. Generals spend their time looking after their men and ensuring their operational orders are going well. They look after upwards of 4000 men depending on how far up the General tree they are. They hardly get time to sleep. Africans get western names mixed up but not saying too much about that part so they remain in the fog. I see your post below so please do post it. It's how we catch the b*********s

Rank doesn't matter either, no soldier or officer on active duty will have time to randomly contact people on skype. While soliders do use skype to contact family members and friends, the time they have to make calls is very limited and they will not waste that time on strangers. There is a good article on this here: http://marriedtothearmy.com/are-you-dat ... or-a-fake/

Scott Mtichell, That is a terrific article! Do we have it in a sticky someplace?
