Hi Scamwarners,
Let me begin by saying what a wonderful thing you are doing here. You are angels! I wish I knew about this site earlier.

Today I found out that two men I have met on an online dating site are scammers. I googled the pictures they sent me and both of them lead to your website. So, it's confirmed. Both guys suddenly stopped contacting me, which is what prompted my suspicions.

I had sent one of them a few of my picutres and my mobile phone number, both of which he asked for. I never got any phone calls, by the way. And after discovering your website today, I googled all my picutres which I sent and luckily THANK GOD I found nothing. I was starting to fear they might be used for scamming other people. I have also checked my mobile phone bill, I thought it might be used to make calls at my expense for example. But also, everything is ok.

From your experience, what can be done with my pictures and my mobile number? What do you think? Is there anything I should do?

Thanks again for this great forum.

The pictures may or may not be gimped into the next passport the scammer sends out. The phone number, probably nothing.

Most of the photos cannot be used in a passport, except maybe one but it's of poor quality. I guess I learned my lesson.

Thanks for posting - it's great that you decided to investigate the guys you met online & found the details here.

Good luck in meeting someone who isn't a scammer.... and please feel free to come back if you have any doubts about any others you may come across.

Thanks Gus,
I'm glad I investigated them too, but this experience has left me discouraged. I even deactivated my account :(
I wish there would be links and ads to forums like this on the dating sites.

The principle of a good scam is to appear to offer someone what they seek, making it appear easy, but at a price.

It doesn't matter if it's the sports car of your dreams at a bargain price, a lottery win out of the blue or true romance, if the site you're on gives the scammer a clue as to what is most likely to unlock your wallet or purse, he's half way there.

One problem or secret that many ladies don't seem to realise is that most men are by nature reticent and cautious and, even if they're very keen, they'll never ever indulge in the sort of unbridled way over the top passion that scammers exhibit and, to be honest, most ladies would slap their partners if they used such gushing emotional language in real life.

Equally - lithe teenage girls aren't scouring the internet looking for the middle aged pot bellied man of their dreams - I can't think why not though. :D

Have dreams - we all do - but never allow them to let your guard down.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle
