Information on romance scams and scammers.
by little sister Tue Jun 11, 2013 8:07 pm
Hi,
I have just quit communicating with Ray Thompson, a romance scammer from Ghana, who is using the picture of actor Michael Anthony Coppola to represent the scammer. This site has pictures of Michael Anthony Coppola used by this scammer, but it it under the name of Davidson Rahman. I have also found these pictures used under the scammer name of Dave Morre on another site. It is my hope that my scam will be tied in with all three so all of his alias's can be seen.

My story is like the rest. This time aka Ray was an architect located in the United States. After 2 months of talking, mostly through instant messaging, he had an emergency where he had to go to Ghana. Ray had lost over a million in a financial scam and now he had to go for the court case in Ghana. All this finally led to me researching Ghana only to find out all about romance scammers. I found a good romance scammer group to help me find all the information I needed to prove he was a fake. I lost very little, fortunately. I am a recent widow and so was he. I found him to be quite charming, a good listener, empathetic and so on. They are masters at what they do!
I welcome any feedback. I will try to load as much info. as I can.

truly want the opportunity to get to know you, all of you. I was raised by a strong catholic mom and being an only child she taught me so much about caring for people and accepting them as who they are . respect, honor, dignity, honesty, compassion, and love.. were some of the strongest features that were instilled in me.

I like to take things at their natural rhythm when it comes to relationships. I adore the arts, having been involved in them in one way or another since I was little. Love the movies, walking, riding in my sports car. I tend towards shyness at times, but when I am comfortable with the people around me, I'm a lot of fun. I like my peace and quiet - too much noise/activity around me can make me anxious.

But I can also adjust/adapt quite quickly to new circumstances. I am deeply romantic, optimistic, hopeful, wise, smart & understanding. I have a good, honest heart and don't like being lied to. If you are straight with me from the get-go, I'm more likely to grow to care for you. I am affectionate by nature, but believe that trying to sense the boundaries of others shows caring, sensitivity and a willingness to look beyond yourself to see that person instead of only being concerned with your own desires and needs.

We all have a right to be selfish at times, but if you are truly going to relate well to someone else, you have to be willing to acknowledge the compromises inherent in any relationship and if you truly care for someone, wanting that person's happiness and well-being should be a high priority this is how i feel...I've been extremely candid and hope to hear from you and learn more about your likes/dislikes as well as more about your life. Take care and enjoy the rest of the day

Hoping you can get a yahoo so we can chat instantly to know each other much better

Above in quotes is one of first e-mails from Ray.
I'll try to figure out how to send the pictures nest.

Oh, I forgot to add some information on aka Ray Thompson.

Hi,

I just edited it to include the e-mail address he used with me. I would really like to see this guy nailed.

I am new on this kind of site - the scam warners and these forums. (Don't want to sound like one of those Romance scammers in being "new") but I am not too familiar with how these forums work. I will learn, but posting the pictures is really confusing to me. Also, will this e-mail to you be shown somewhere else? I am concerned about saying a few other things I know relating to the photo victim. I am also concerned if I said too much in my wording on the first post. I don't want to give myself away to this scam artist.

Thanks for all.

Oh, I forgot one other thing.

Will this scam artist be listed with the same photo of Michael Coppola that are already on here? I am hoping it will all show up together so people can see his multiple alias'.

Thanks.

You can look at my signature for information on how to post pictures.

Also, when you post just remove your personal information. If you post his first couple of emails to you. Then he will not know who posted it. He sends the script out to 100's of women daily.

This scammer is in Ghana and besides that everything else he said is a lie. He could be younger than 30 and even married.

Want to hear something funny? I was also contacted by this same person under the alias Brian something from "London". I thought the photos were very stocklike and assumed it was a scam, but played along for a few emails. I then asked him to Skype with me, telling him I issues with just emails/messages, and wanted a face to face. Well, obviously he said he was not tech savvy (although he found me through Google profiles) - that sealed it. So, I sought out to find the real person in the photos. through a google image cross-reference, I found Michael Coppola and many of these scam sites. So, being a nice person, I decided to call and tell him that his picture is floating out there under MANY aliases. Now, if someone called me to tell me this, I would be freaked out and immediately want that person to tell me the info they had. But not him, he yelled at me, like I was some stalker, and said to me, "I don't know how you got my phone number..." (it's on your google resume profile, dumbass) "...but do not EVER call me again!" and he slammed down the phone. Nice, huh? So I sent him a text immediately after attaching the few photos of HIM that were sent to me, and letting him know that he was an asshole and I was not some stalker, but just someone letting HIM know he was the subject of scams. I will never do that again. What a complete jerk! So, it's great to warn people being scammed (I'm sure the "I need money so I can visit you" was coming soon), but the people's images they are using - well... lol

That is why we advise people not to try and track down the real person in the photos - you could well be the 1,000th person that has tracked him down and invaded his privacy - there's nothing he can do about the fact that scammers have his photos, so there was nothing to benefit in you tracking him down.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.

He is still at it, this time under the alias Steven Hugh. I have been chatting with him through Google+ but am getting increasingly suspicious the longer we chat. It was fun at first but now he's getting way too serious and intrusive. I also found the same picture on Linkedin as Steven Brown and a number of other sites too.

I was scammed by this same guy. Under the name if Brian Burgess from the UK. Smooth operator, very romantic and manipulative. I'd love to see him caught!
