I have a loved one that could be in some trouble. She's had a peculiar 8 months. In November, she informed us that she won a sum of money and a car through a contest she won. Of course months later, we see no car and money. During that 7 month period, she did have to change all of her bank accounts. She didn't give
In the last month, she's mentioned she's taking off to Jamaica with a former boyfriend. Supposedly she's there now (we have no way to verify). We have already talked to her 3 times, she seems timid (she always does unfortunately). She's been calling from this number 876-472-3717. Suddenly today, she's asked us for $5K so she can pays some bills.
So obviously she's in a scam with Jamaicans, which unfortunately didn't click for any of us until this week because she's very quiet and doesn't divulge information. But any idea what are the scammers looking for now? She's obviously under their control at some level. Does this scam sound familar to anyone? What can we do at this point?
