Information on romance scams and scammers.

I am trying to find out if the 2 guys I have been talking with are scammers....Can't find anything on either of them...I did not include the pix because I wasn't sure how to mark them "FAKE".....I have also checked other scammers sites and their is nothing...I did post their pix on another site and asked but no one there knew them....sooooooooooooooo...what's next??
1. Gomes...I have been talking with him off and on since December...I did trace his emails and they come from where he says he lives...He did send 2 pix and I Googled them and nothing came back bad about them..no dating sites or anything not even a Facebook Page....He uses the email of: [email protected]

2. Tony Wallace (Wolex) Talking to this one since March...Has sent 2 Pix and has one that is different on his YM. Have tried to google them and nothing came back except a facebook pages: https://www.facebook.com/tony.wolex...His email is: [email protected]
Have traced his emails and they are from Nigeria...thinking this one may be a scam...but he told me in the beginning where he is...I also have his cell number and traced it and it is listed in New York...He did tell me he was from New York...We text a lot and he always right on his word...if he says he will text at a certain time he will...but I have dealt with scammers before and I know they are "Programmed" to say what they think you want/need to hear...he also sent a copy of a "reservation" he made for him and his Daughter return to the U.S.

Just want to find more info on these 2 guys...Can someone give me any more ideas?????

Thanks!!!!

How can we compare pictures? Please read my post.

For both of them--if he has asked for money, he is a scammer. Legitimate, self-respecting men do NOT ask for money from women they have never met.

1) definitely need more information on this one before we can say anything either way. Some scammers do make the effort to take photos from sites where they aren't indexed, or edit the photos enough to avoid search matches, so not finding the photo does not mean much.

2) Frankly, "American in Nigeria" leads to >90% odds of scam right there. A New York phone number doesn't mean too much, as it is not very difficult to get a New York number with VOIP or magic jack. Add single dad, that facebook page, and the "reservation" (a common ploy by scammers to make themselves more believable) and the odds go to significantly over 95%.

In both cases, posting some of the emails the scammer has sent you, especially the early ones, will help us to say for certain.

@ Dotti,
For Gomes, I did trace his emails...they are showing that he is where he claims to be...Just wish it were easier...

It takes a knowledgeable person less than 5 minutes to find a proxy that will make him/her look like he/she is in a specific place.

I would never assume someone is real based on the location in emails. I'm not saying this person is not real, but I am saying that it is easy to be misled into thinking that something is safe when it is not.

??? There's no harm in letting one of the team inspect the email headers. They may spot something that you missed.
Please post them here after removing your own details, or alternatively send them via pm to one of the team (their names are coloured).

A team member can mark the photographs and post them for you too, if you wish.

Once you upload them, you'll see the URL in various formats. Copy the one that has "[img]" in it, and paste it in a post here.
