I recently joined Zoosk, as a lot of folks on here have done, looking for a special lady with whom I could have some fun times, maybe a serious relationship.
I've gotten scam e-mails twice since I've been on there. The most recent one was from a woman who claimed to live in nearby Arlington, VA. A very cute and attractive lady, about the same age as me. So I messaged her and said I'd love to grab a cup of coffee with you so we can see if there's any connection between us.She messages me back "I'm not a full member on here, so e-mail me please at . I'd love to further this conversation. So, ignoring the strange verbiage, I actually e-mailed her. I told here blah blah blah, whatever, lookin for a nice woman with whom, blah blah blah, and she sends back the following:
Thanks for writing me... I am 40yrs old I live in Arlington VA. I am single, never married and got no kid.. I joined that dating website because I'm searching for the right man. I am looking for a real, honest, loving, caring and understanding man that will love me for real and never hurt me. A man that i can call mine and that will be mine forever and i will give all my love as well. I am a christian lady,i don't smoke though am not against people that do it but it should be in moderation, I am presently in Cape town..I lose my both parent..My Dad served as a soldier with the US department of defense before his died..
About myself,I am a very simple minded woman,I strongly believe that lesson of "simple living and high thinking" that my Mom has thought me. I have absolutely NO expensive habit. I do not like driving a New Mercedes or New BMW - I drive a simple Toyota Corolla. I have no intention for expensive items in life because I came from a very hard working family and I learned the value of money and struggle. I strongly believe that "luxury, once practiced becomes a necessity". So I hate luxury. But I am NOT stingy. I do believe in living within my simple means and give more than what I need to the unprivileged children in the world, who don't have what I have. I do believe that if I earn 5 dollars and I need only 2 then I should save 2 dollar for the future saving and give the rest 1 dollar to the children. My family is very important to me. . Education is the most important thing in my life. I want to have kids and want to give them best education , the best education to them that money can buy. I am very very romantic but at the same time very very intelligent and practical in life. I often go to Goodwill and buy cloths, which makes my friends surprised - they say you are earning so much why can't you buy good cloths - I tell them I am buying good cloths but not necessarily expensive cloths because I don't need them - to me if I can save some money from living within my means and not spending more money than I need then I can help 10 extra poor people to whom life has no meaning - showing light to their life is much more important to me than wearing an expensive cloth. This is just to give you an idea about me and the philosophy of my life. I strongly believe the philosophy of Gandhi, the father of the nation in India who has helped India to get the freedom.Beside music and cooking , which is in my blood, my next inspiration is movies. hope to read back from you.

There were a whole bunch of red flags there, what with the strained grammar and stuff, but mainly, that isn't the sort of thing someone who is just meeting someone pours out to someone else, I mean it immediately seemed really scripted to me, and to be honest written by a man trying to sound like a woman, all sensitive and emotional...
So, I wrote back the following, right away, and then blocked "her" on my Zoosk account:
Damn, why is it that every time I find a woman who I want to get to know, it is really some man in Africa trying to scam me out of my money? You obviously are not American. Improve your English! "I lose my both parent?" "My Dad served as a soldier with the US Department of Defense before his died?" First of all, no soldiers serve in the US Department of Defense, they are in the ARMY! The Department of Defense is a CIVILIAN organisation! Anybody who was the daughter of a US Army soldier would definitely know the difference. And it is "before HE died," not "before his died!" "I lose my both parent" should be "I lost both of my parentS" (with an 's' after 'parent'). How? She doesn't bother even saying. Make up a story for that part, or you're going to get spotted every time. "That my Mom has thought me," should be "that my Mom has TAUGHT me." So, obviously, you are not an American, nor are you a White lady. And why are you in Cape Town, ZA? Why would a totally frugal lady who lives in Arlington, VA, who shops at Goodwill, fer crissake, be in South fucking Africa? That would be the time of her life! She would write about THAT, not just mention it in passing! So, your story doesn't add up, Miss Cozy.
You got the wrong guy, dude. Improve your hustle a little bit. It's fucking sad, really. You are a wanker and a tosser. I don't care if you're trying to feed your eighteen kids, or buy AIDS medication for your poor 100 year-old grandma, you're not getting a single Rand from me, buddy. The big tipoff was that you said you were in Cape Town. Try, "I'm away on business for a few months in San Francisco" or something a little more believable. Then, you're going to have to stay up nights so you can correspond with the poor marks you reel in with your pathetic hustle. OBTW, San Francisco is 3 hours BEHIND the East Coast of the U.S. I bet you'd have more luck putting your sad-ass e-mail in Bushman language (a.k.a. the San people) than in English. Oh, wait, they don't have a written language, do they? Sorry, try putting it in Afrikaans or Zulu or Bantu next time.
Cheers, asshole.

pretty good, huh?
Everyone knows this, but it needs to be reitierated, any time someone who is supposedly American, British or Australian or whatever native English speaker can't write without an accent "coming through" in their writings should immediately be assumed to be a scammer, unless PROVEN otherwise!
