This man is on many dating sites, he has various names and scams, The names I have so far, as he seems to like Black Planet the most is...... Gustav Roman, Pald68, Ken07TX, Jonathan_evans_1010, Lynn001, Smithkingston. He favours a picture in a tank top, obvious ly taken years ago because now he is overweight, will try to post both. He is in Nigeria, this was varified by a phoe number he gave me, at the time these guys did not realize you need a country code to access a number. I busted this guy back in 2007, and he is still trying his stuff, thanks to the many posts I have on romancescam for many guys I have stopped a lot of women from getting stung. :=) The one with arms folded is the one he usually has on his profile, as you can see the second one he is overweight.

Hello MsDownunder, and welcome to ScamWarners.

Thank you for wanting to warn other women about scammers.

Do you have some of the emails sent by this person? If so, could you post a couple of them, perhaps his first and second mails? That would be very helpful.

You'll find guidelines for posting pictures here:

Can you describe how he presented himself in his scams? Who did he say he was, and where did he say he was living? What did he tell you about himself? How did you realise that he was not telling the truth? Did he ask for money? What was his excuse for needing money?

If you can give further information, this could help other women to recognise scams and scammers.

Here is the copy & paste from my post at romancescam. He has since ditched this avenue of scam, but he is still on Black Planet under another name...

This guy found me on Matchdoctor. After speaking with him yesterday he says " I would love to hear your voice?"
He says he is in Iraq and that due to security reason cannot call unless I request permission from his CEO. I did this via email. Then I receive an email, see below, looked genuine until I saw "pounds" and not dollars, then wanting all my information. No doubt these scammers are becoming very sophisticated.

Tidied up quotes - Ralph

Originally he met me on BP, said he was in Iraq, had military pictures etc. I always ask to call, this way I can verify what country they are in. He gave me a number, I traced it to be in Nigeria, told him so and dumped him. That was way back in 2007. Now again recently he tried the same thing , this time I remembered him. I said I would call him, but he said because of security I could not call. Next thing I get the email I put in the other post, I promptly refused to send any money, that he was not that important. He since then has contacted a friend of mine in SA, all the same story, he is a piece of work. See Pictures in other postSaid his name was Smith Kingston, but uses various names.

This has become a very popular scam, especially from the Lagos Nigeria based scammers, so much so that we have recently added an information topic on the subject which you can view here viewtopic.php?f=13&t=6527

Thank you for taking the time to post, it will go a long way to helping others to avoid being scammed

Something worth mentioning. As scammers are becoming more sofisticated, one thing they are now doing is..... When they give you a phone number, they give you an African number, or UK, depending on where they are telling you they are, BUT, they have already set up the number via a call centre in that country, who forwards the call to them, you have no idea. Similar to when we call big companies and we get a call centre in India, Phillipines etc. They do not call you because, it costs them app $1 per min to do so. May I suggest you see..... www.scamomatic.com this site can check headers for you, also has a list of numbers and names usually used by scammers, that's how I found out about a particular phone number. The more information we are armed with, the quicker we can cut contact. So long as women "get smart" and not believe these wanna be's, the better off we will all be. This is not new ladies, I have posts on romancescam going back years, they are just becoming more cunning, so we need to be a step ahead of these people. In a lot of cases you are talking with a woman scammer, pretending to be a man, so do not be fooled for one min. Get them to send you an email, ask for pictures, check the headers, Yahoo has a one click for headers now in the new mail, check it at scamomatic, if all ok, wait a while, ask for thier number, "would love to hear oyour voice" check the number at scamomatic

4470 numbers have commonly been used by African scammers for years, they are relatively easy to set up and the scammer can do it from the comfort of his nearest smelly, hot, scammer filled African internet cafe. Calls to 4470 numbers are insanely expensive but the scammer doesn't care about that, he's not paying.

I haven't heard of them using call centers although there is no reason I can think of why they couldn't do that.

One thing however that I do see a fair bit is the scammers providing a phone number from a country other than their own (being an Aussie I have noticed quite a few Australian numbers), in all cases i have seen, the number can not be reached, and the scammer gives an excuse as to why he couldn't take the call, the theory I guess is that they expect most people will not actually want or need to call for a while and it will give them time to get their hooks into their victim, having provided an Australian phone number I would think many victims would let down their guard a little and may provide their own number for the scammer to call them. Seeing as many of their storylines will have them in Africa within the week they do seem to get away with it.

As to the link, thank you for posting, I haven't had a play with it yet but my early thoughts are that it is a great idea, I would like to point out that if the details you put in do not give any results, it is no guarantee that you are not dealing with a scammer, in saying that, I am sure it would pick up a great deal of scammers.

My own preference, you can search on the same things yourself using google and a good IP analysis tool when you know what to search for, the tool you mention will help those who are not sure where to start so for those people, I am sure it would be a benefit.
