Information on romance scams and scammers.

Hi, new user here. :)

Due to the nature of my work, I receive many email scam or phishing attempts directed at businesses, which I promptly report at sites like phishtank. I now see that you also have a section here for that, so I'll make sure to add them here as well in the future.

But it's the first time I receive a romance scam attempt via e-mail, so I sought a place to share this one and after a quick search stumbled upon your site. Congrats on the remarkable work you're doing here

So, I received an email that quite obviously looks like a romance scam initiator. Note the 2 different email addresses. One of them actually uses the domain of boxer Mark Ginley, but you end up replying to the other one.

My female friend offered me to send the letter and know each other closer! I hope you wouldn't be against of it.
Name of mine is Kenia! I'm 21 years and I'm studying in university.
Here I'm looking forward to find a serious guy just to talk, to go to cafe, maybe travel through world or even build serious relations.
I hope my female friend was right and that u really the male that I am interested in finding!

Yeah, right. The casual stranger emails some random guy looking for romance. Seems legit... :laugh-s:

It never ceases to amaze me, the number of pretty young women who supposedly can't find a relationship any way other than to spam random addresses!

Re: business scams and phishing attempts
Please do post the scams here.
While we get the occasional phishing email posted here (often by someone who is not sure what it is), we really don't cover those, because if the real sites are proactive, the fakes should be closed down extremely quickly anyway, so listing the sites really doesn't serve a significant purpose.
