Scammer Matt Turner on POF

Hello,
I was contacted by this man, Matt Turner on Plenty of Fish, suspicious as he told me a lot of information upfront and then said he had to delete his profile, which he did, but not before I took copies of photos and his info.
He asked me for his email address and I gave it to him so I could get his and check his IP address 98.138.120.50 which says it is from California but is really from Ghana from the search I performed.

I want to make sure people are aware of this guy, clearly he isn't who he says he is so here are the details.

I do get contracts from all over the world to work on projects, I plan on starting my own business when I get back home... So I won't be travelling to work anymore, I know there are lots of jobs back home but I really needed this job to be able to start my business... once I get back I plan on settling down, probably with you... Nice to know that... I live on the Bayside in Brisbane, I will be back in January finally but I will be coming home for Christmas, we might meet up then, what do you think? It is clear they all use the same old story, widowed, working in the USA and coming back soon. Its abit sad that people fall for these scumbags.

dingocub. Thankyou for the report. I notice the first e-mail you posted has been previously used in a scam.
The script looks strikingly familiar on viewtopic.php?f=13&t=39007
And much of the same script from the last e-mail has been used by a scammer out of Nigeria from Twenty 11.

The texts you have posted are definitely the work of a typical romance scammer.

One clarification, though:

98.138.120.50 is not a Ghana IP address. It is indeed a California IP address. This is the address of one of Yahoo's servers. Basically it tells you nothing more than that the email passed through Yahoo's servers. The scammer may be in Ghana, but he could be in Malaysia, Nigeria, or anywhere else in the world.

When you get an IP address like this, one of two things has happened:

1) The originating IP address has been stripped or hidden (sometimes you will see NNFMP in the headers when this happens, but not always.)
2) the right IP address was not pulled from the headers (typically there is more than one IP address, showing the route the email took, and sometimes software or people pull one of the addresses in the middle of the route instead of the originating address.

I am so sorry I am responding to you so late, I have been down with body pains and I have been at the hospital these past few days... I just got out today and I am feeling better now, I hope you are still interested in me? How is your day going? I hope everything is working out fine for you? I am glad you have German roots also but I don't understand much of German... you can teach me, I am a good listener... lol, I own my home in Brisbane, I've been a Electrical engineer for many years - A couple of years ago, I went back to work with my old group, designed and built a Power Plant Generating Transformer that can generate electricity through the Solar System, so I really like to Design and build every chance I get! I have deep spiritual convictions but am not a religious nut, I think that is a wonderful foundation for a relationship. I think someday it would be awesome to own some land with live water (for swimming and fishing), a big log home with a wood-burning fireplace, a large garden spot and some horses to ride. It seems that the older I get, the more appealing that kind of lifestyle becomes. I'm rather open-minded about the person I'd be interested in, but some qualities I prefer are: intelligence, creativity (someone musical or artistic would be great!), honesty, passion and a sense of humor.

I am glad I met you already and if we continue this way we might be a great couple and I hope you are not in a rush to meet! I believe we need to get to know more about each other first before we meet... I don't know anything about you yet, I think the proper way is to share some couple of emails before agreeing to meet, that would make it easier for us to get along before we finally meet in person. Here some other things you need to know about me... I like to fish, tent camp, walk trails (the Nature Center is a great place!) and think zoos, museums and rodeos are also fun.
