Dating site scams

I have been scammed by two men. The only two I have chatted with and now give up on dating sites. One is David Masenhiemer. [email protected]. Supposedly from New York but traveled to Ghana and needed money for hospital, blah blah blah.

The next is Michael Barney. [email protected]. Stuck here and there and needing money blah blah blah.

I'm sorry that a bad experience with scammers brought you here. Unfortunately, the sad reality is that if you are active on most dating sites, you will likely encounter far more scammers than real people. There are real people--they are just hard to find sometimes.

If you still have the messages these people sent you, could you please post a few of them here? Scammers often use scripted emails, especially in the beginning of the scam and when they are asking for money. They will reuse these scripts even after they change fake names and photos. In addition to providing the necessary evidence that they are scammers, posting these scripts will help other potential victims to recognize they are being scammed.

Hi Stophurtingpeople, I know exactly how you feel. We shouldn't have to deal with this when all we wanted was to find someone new to connect with outside our normal realm of contacts. And yes, they are on every site and they will try whatever tactics they need to find a victim.
Here's my suggestion and you're getting this from a scam victim- just get out and connect more. Connect with family and friends. Go to a work get together you used to shun. Find a way to volunteer. Ask friends to introduce you to new people. Does it get you dates? No. But I know I quit worrying about it. And then I tried the online dating and a smarter eye on what a scammer looks like. And you know where to come if you have any questions.
