here is a story i wanted to share with you from a book I read that says a reality
story about a woman called Mary Hays,It was particularly hot and humid
on June 28,1778 near the Monmouth courthouse in the town of
freehold,New Jersey. That was the day during the American revolutionary
war that General George Washington, who had spent most of the war waging
a battle of strategy and movement against the British finally
determined to fight the enemy in a full engagement...
After
a tentative attack and withdrawal by American General Charles Lee,the
revolutionary forces rallied under General Washington and engaged in a
fierce artillery battle against the British .it turned out to be the
longest and largest battle of that type stage during the revolutionary
War.For hours,in the heat that approach nearly 100degrees,the two
opposing artillery groups hurled tons of shells and iron shot at one
another. Each side fought using ten guns, and for a long time neither
side gain the advantage.
As men fought on,exhaustion threatened to
overcome them and many of them called for water.Mary Hays the wife of
artilleryman Williams Hays rushed to the front lines with water to help
the soldiers keep fighting. It was the kind of thing she had done
before. She had traveled with her husband throughout the war,as many
spouse did in those days, she cooked ,helped to look after the men ,and
even attended to the wounded during battles. She was as dedicated to the
cause of freedom and the defeat of the British as any soldier in the
continental army. She had even suffered through the horrible winter at
Valley forge with the army.
On
this day ,because of the heat, fetching water was a full time
job, although she did help with the wounded as well after she returned
to the battle line from one of her trips to a stream she noticed that
her husband,Williams who had been relieved from his gun so that he
could rest, was back in the fight because the man who had replaced him
had been wounded. The battle was so even that the Americans couldn't
afford to have a single cannon out of commission for fear of losing the
battle.
As Mary watched her
husband was also struck down by enemy fire he was dead she didn't
hesitate .Mary had been with the Army long enough to know what must be
done with the battery short of gunners ,she stepped forward and took
her husband 's place as the cannon's gunner.
A Connecticut soldier
wrote this in his autograph about Mary Hays...."While in the act of
reaching the cartridge and having one of her feet as far before the
other as she could step,a cannon shot from the enemy passed directly
between her legs with out doing any other damage than carrying away all
the lower part of her petticoat.Looking at it with apparent
unconcern, she continued her occupation...You can imagine how brave a
great woman can be..."
After hours of fighting ,the British
artillery was forced to withdraw. The Continental army had won the
battle.Though it was not considered a major military victory ,the
battle of Monmouth was a political triumph and a tremendous moral for
the revolutionaries. The Continental army had faced the British in the
open field and forced them to retreat, and in this longest of battles of
the American Revolutions, the British had suffered two or three times
more casualties than their American Counterparts. For her action in the
battle ,Mary Hays was issued a warrant as a non commissioned officer by
the General G. Washington.,Now babe lets flesh this out I am sorry that
I am taking so much of your time to read a long mail like this I just
want you to be a strong woman...okay not by being another woman but by
looking in yourself and give the best to get the best...Look at Mary
Hays who has to come to be known as Molly Pitchers in history books,is
symbolic of the attitude of many of the people who fought in the
American revolution. They were highly mission conscious, and that sense
of purpose and mission continually drove them to do what was for the
cause there fellow fighters and there nations. Not every one of us can
relate to the battle field heroics of someone like Mary hays, but we can
certainly embrace the mission-conscious attitude she brought to her
team .She exhibited the four qualities of all mission-conscious player.
This
I want you to look within yourself and ready to exercise with every
situation that comes your way believing that this will get you to
higher place in life and make you be greater than what you have
anticipated.
I am sorry for taking so much of your time but I just

world greatest woman...Babe go get it no doubt you are great woman for
