This scammer is well known here. He uses the name of Sgt John Edwards , Ralph Edwards , Major Daniel Morrison Edwards and Calvin Edwards . The scammer uses the real pictures of Sgt. Ralph Edwards. The pictures were stolen off a social network.

His lies are basically the same. A 11 year old son living with his Mother in Law because his wife died. He is in the US Army.
This scammer may not ask for money for months or even years. This is typical for Romance Scammers. They want to make sure that the victim has totally fallen for the scam. They also want to make sure that your contact with friends and family is limited. This is because they want to control you and for you not to believe any warnings from friends and family.
If he ask you to open a Bank Account, receive packages or pick up money from Western Union/Money Gram for him this is a scam also. He is using you to help him steal from other women he is scamming. Do not do this. You can get into serious trouble.
