Information on romance scams and scammers.

I deleted almost every messages of them right after I found out what they were (I told them I knew they lied to me but they still try to contact me by phone and email but I ignore them). They were suspicious after I knew them for a few days. Then I searched for some information by using the pictures they gave me.
They worked as a team. They said they were dad and a son. Dad used the email [email protected] and son used the email [email protected]. I suspected that they are scammers just a few days after I talked to the one who claimed that he's dad because he said he loved me just after talking on messenger with me for 2 days (it's impossible!!) Then he asked me to talk to his son on the phone. I think he thought he would gain my trust by that, but he's wrong. I suspected them more after I talked to his fake son because of his accent. Although the dad (he said his name was John) told me they were American, his fake son (he said his name Chris) absolutely had African accent. When I said his son's accent was not American or British or Australian, he said his son gained the accent from African trip. He said his son was in Nigeria for 4 months but would finish his trip in Feb. I asked for his pic and his son pic. After I got their pics, I checked by googling their pics. Then I found out his pics were in scam-warning websites. His son pics were the pic of child model who are only 12 (but he said his son was 17). I told them that I knew the pics are fake. they still claimed that they were real pic of them. Besides the pics, most of John's messages in emails or instant messenger were often found in the poem webpage and also were used by other scammers that I found on anti-scammers website. I stop contacting him after I am sure they are scammers. Luckily, I didn't give them any money.
I just hope that they cannot get any money from anyone.
the link below is the link that I found John's pic (No.484). Actually, he gave me 3 pics but I don't know how to attach them here.

My Queen,
I´m really missing you today. Basically, that´s what this letter is all about. I´m exactly the same, there´s no distance that can make me forget you. I´m the one who loves you more and more and these words are meant to do what my voice whispering in your ear the things I like to say and you like to hear would.

You are the most gorgeous girl in the whole world, the most desired and most loved one. It´s hard to translate all the love I feel for you. When I´m thinking of meeting you, I see through my heart´s eyes, I feel your enchanting tenderness and I feel like you were created to put a spell on me.
It seems the time does not pass. The days are too long, the nights too sad when I´m far from you. Your absence is my only evil. You would not believe the distress I have been bearing these days, sometimes I become so anxious no one with me can stand me at all.
When reciprocated, love is what it is, a huge pleasure that enraptures and inebriates, vulgar and refined at the same time. What is hard about love is the distance, but when this separation is temporary as when in an ordinary business trip, the hope of seeing you again soon snaps me out of it and invigorates me.
Quite soon I´ll be hugging and kissing you again, with the same usual love and desire.
Kisses, Hug, Love you....

HELLO MY LOVE
I love you with all my heart,All I want in the world is to love you, to wake up beside you each morning, to feel the warmth of your hand in my body, to share each moment, good and bad, with you, to lose myself in your loving arms.
Some people want so much out of life, but all I want is to share everything with you, for us to talk long into the night, to dream together, and experience all of the little things together that makes life worth living.
Yes, I have a big dream after all. And I want so many things.I want to spend the rest of my life with you. And I want to give you my love, and to make our home.
A place where you always feel warm and welcome, and for us to have a relationship in which we accept each other for who we are and always find a sweet dream in each other arms.
All I want is for us to love each other for the rest of our lives, And I do believe that dreams can come true,i am coming,i am gonna be with you very soon.
i love, kiss, hug

I got this email yesterday. He sent this to someone else. He sent to me by mistake. Actually, this email is the reason why I have to find the website that I can post something to warn people about scammers and I hope a woman who this guy sent this email to will find that he is a scammer. I'm really concerned.
By the way, he told me he was a business man but for this woman, he said he worked for united nation (UN).

This scammer is using these photo's. The person actually in the pictures is not the scammer. Scammers steal pictures and use them for their scams. This scammer is located in Africa.

I forgot to tell that he found me on icq. I was online on icq for a few days. My first intention just wanna practise my language because my skills, especially speaking, seemed worse after being in a place where there's nobody to talk another language with. Well, then this scammer, John or Jubrin (on his icq name), greeted me and approached too fast. He also used bad grammars and incorrect spellings. I felt so weird that he talked about love many times and said he loved me and tried to make me accept his proposal although I didn't and I asked him he didn't know me and I didn't know him and everything he did was too fast. Besides, after talking with him for just a few days, his son, Chris, asked me to buy the ipad and paid for a trip for him (total 700 dollars). I felt weird because i haven't felt anything special with his dad. I really suspected them so I said I don't have money enough to buy those stuff because I didn't earn much salary. Then John asked 'how much do you have?'. I said 'I have only 200 dollars now. Then John asked me to give all I had to his son and he would return to me when he arrived in Japan. He said he couldn't do anything because he's on a ship to Japan. I denied but he insisted and Chris called me to rush me and said without the money he couldn't go to another city for excursion. I thought it's weird for excursion in another country that the teachers suddenly changed their program and asked the students to pay more while they are away from their parents (it's impossible!). Besides, at first, John said Chris needed 700 dollars and he couldn't go to another city if he paid less but when I said I had only $200, he said the teacher would accept as an insurance (something like that). It's weirder.
I really want to stop contacting them because I am sure what they are. Then I decided to tell them about my observation about their pics, grammars, spelling, accents and their conflicted stories (I asked many questions to John and asked the same to Chris). Finally, I insisted that I don't love John. I stayed contact with them because I first believed that Chris was a real kid and I want to be like a consultant with him. I am sure he's not after talking on the phone for a few times.
Then, I got emails from them blaming me to broke John's heart (but I don't believe that he really feel something for me because I just knew him on icq for only 2 days when he said he loved me.).
After I got the emails from them, I thought it's over but just a few days later, they sent me email, sms, and Chris called me. They still try to contact me but I still ignore them. I set silence tone to Chris's number. (+2348107975118).
Although I cannot delete my account on icq, I decided to not use it again and delete every information there.

So glad you came here to tell your story canberraisnice. I haven't seen this before where you actually get contacted by both father and son. It's all to gain your sympathy and make the story seem even more real. The whole purpose of talking to us on Messenger and saying they love us in a short time is to work the romance angle so you will give money. If they can get you to fall for them and the story, why wouldn't you give money when something happens to them? I'm really glad you paid attention and they didn't get too far with you. Some of us fall anyway and then we are filled with regret from letting them scam us out of money.
Just remember, scammers should not be told that you know they are one (or 2 here). They will always deny it and tell you how wrong you are. Sometimes the pictures will show up on Google Images and Tineye, other times they won't. Don't ever let lack of evidence convince you they're real and not scammers. They can set up many different versions, just like yours, and have all kinds of tricks.
Please make sure you don't continue to contact them. If you have 2 of them, they will be thinking they can still get you hooked and you will give them money. The smart thing was to come here and report it.

Thank you, Smith Jones. I stop communicating both of them after I am sure what they are (I talked to them for just a week.) although they still try to contact me.
You are absolutely right. If I or anyone fell in love with them, we would help them no matter what they asked for. That's why they can have money from many people. They play with people's hearts. They often pretend to be 'God fearing' so people with good hearts will believe that they are good although many times it seemed too good. It's the first time for me to experience scammers. I thank myself that I believe in my instinct (if they didn't do everything too fast, I would not suspect) and thank many anti-scam websites, including scamwarners.com, that educate me and other people to know what scammers are and how they works and how to deal with them.
I hope everyone visit scamwarners.com or other anti-scammer websites before they are going to look for friendship or relationship online (or even just wanna practise their second language by chatting online, like me). Of course, real people are online on those chatting or dating websites but there are also a lot of scammers as well. Beware!
