Information on romance scams and scammers.

I received a random friend request on skype and thought what the heck i don't usually just chat with someone I don't know. The beginning of the conversation was so so (boring actually) he also didn't understand certain phrases. Clue number 1... Then after he told me his wife had died 5 years ago leaving him to raise his son who is now 15 he also tells me he is in the Army for the last 21 years. He wants to see a pic of me which is fine, I have plenty on face book. But then he asks me to marry him. HUGE RED FLAG FOR ME... I am suspicious by nature so I knew something was weird there. I ended the chat by saying I had to sleep and he ended by saying he wanted to come see me in Sept when he gets his next leave and that he really wanted me in his life. Sorry to tell him but men do not typically move that fast. He never talked about money other than to ask what I did. Sadly for him I am on disability and don't make any money. lol
What I don't understand is why can't I tell him I know he's a scam artist? Even if he continues the lies he's not getting anywhere with me. I don't sent anyone money. I will be deleting him and blocking him from all my social media outlets. This again is why I never accept random friend requests. LOL

Welcome to Scamwarners Roxymoxy26,

We ask people not to inform the scammer that you know he is a scammer. The reason is because they (Scammer) will google their email address and information. Sometimes victims will point them to anti fraud sites like this one. Even worse some victims will inform the scammer of some of his errors. This will cause the scammer to perfect his script.

Once the scammer knows he is posted on an anti fraud site he will take another 5 minutes out of his life to make a new email address and fake name. At this point any warnings posted will be useless until another victim post the new information. His new fake name, email address and script will not be searchable because he has changed it.

He has not asked for money yet because romance scammers take their time to make sure you are hooked. The scammer you posted has already set the stage for the money request.

He will come up with reasons why he can not come see you. It will cost you money sent by Western Union, Moneygram or Bank transfer. He may even tell you a lie that Military members must pay for leave, phones/internet, medical or he has no access to money. It is all lies.

he ended by saying he wanted to come see me in Sept when he gets his next leave and that he really wanted me in his life.

Please post his email address, pictures and any additional information you have to help other women avoid him.

Please contacta moferatorstor if you have a question or information about this post.

Please do not tell the scammer he is posted here.
