Hi,
I think I might get scammed. I'm not a US citizen so I don't really know about the military related stuffs.
His name is Posey. He told me he is redeployed in Afghanistan for 4 months. But I request for his leave. I doubt if I can do that. Then he kept telling me sweet talk and said want to hear my voice but he can't because it's not allowed to have a phone. However, he told me I can send him a phone by sending him money via Western Union. That's when I'm starting to think that it might be a scam. He has email with yahoo account and also sent me some pictures. I'm not sure if they are real.
Do you think it's a scam?
Thank you,
Tara

Yes, it is a scammer.

Only the Soldier can request leave and he does not have to pay for it. No one can request leave for him. The military provides phones to soldiers while they are deployed. Soldiers have access to their money. They do not need to ask internet friends for money.

I graduated from Infantry Basic Training and Airborne School,I also graduated from the Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS) and the Special Forces Weapons Sergeant Course. I received my Special Forces Tab and was promoted to Sergeant after graduating from the Special Operations French Language Training Course. I too have had dealings with Posey. He matched with me on the dating app Tinder. He posted pictures in combat uniform and dress uniform. He told me his name was Hardy Douglas Posey and and a seargents uniform on. He said he was in Kabul, Afghanistan so would I go on to yahoo messenger! I didn't as he started to email me from [email protected] and when I asked for a photo without his uniform on he disappeared. He was very charming but it was very full on but luckily I felt something was not quite right. So i googled his name and sound this forum. And I had watched Catfish too.

Hope someone else googles his name as I did and found this forum when there suspicions are raised.

Has this scam and the name and rank been reported to the US Army?
by Bryon Williams Sat Jun 06, 2015 7:50 pm
The real military member is not committing this scam.

The scammer has stolen a name and rank to commit his crime. These scammers will steal photo's to assist in the fraud.

Reporting it to the US Army is useless. Tell me what country you are in and I'll try to find a place to report it.

The US Army is well aware of these types of scams. Please read the following that the US Army has on their website. http://www.army.mil/article/130861/Army ... nce_scams/
