Dementia-stricken grandfather, 81, commits suicide after falling victim to Jamaican telephone scam that saw him bilked out of thousands of dollars over four years
Albert Poland, Jr, 81, took his own life March 22, 2015, after years of receiving daily calls from Jamaica asking him for money
The Harriman, Tennessee, resident was repeatedly promised a lottery jackpot of up to $3million
Poland, who was married with two grown children and two granddaughters, suffered from Alzheimer's and dementia
On the mooring of March 22, 2015, while his wife was at church, 81-year-old Albert Poland Jr descended the stairs to his basement in Harriman, Tennessee, put a pistol to his head and pulled the trigger.
A day before his suicide, Poland wired $400 to Jamaica; his grieving family got a call the next day asking for $1,500 more
