A lonely Hampshire university professor faces losing her house after handing over £140,000 in an online dating scam.
Professor gave lonely hearts conman £140,000: But police say they WON'T investigate because the fraud took place overseas
Oxford-educated Judith Lathlean, 67, said she felt 'immediate connection' when a man called 'John Porter' contacted her on an internet dating profile
Within days, the pair were planning a future together and had given each other affectionate nicknames
Prof Lathlean also began giving him money for a development project
Six months - and tens of thousands of pounds - later realised it was a scam
But police refused to investigate because the fraud was based overseas
