It's not so much of an online fraud, but one to beware of nevertheless.

Beware if

A phone or, increasingly of late, phones, are mysteriously delivered to the victim’s home. They haven’t placed the order and so are not surprised when they receive a call saying there has been a mistake and the goods will be collected at a given time.

Somehow the criminal has got hold of your card details and ordered goods in your name which are delivered to you. He then follows up to collect them lying that they should have been delivered to him. Of course the bill is in your name and you will end up paying.

Solution - call the sender immediately and notify them what has happened and arrange to return it to them after they agree to cancel the bill. Contact the police and notify anyone wanting to collect the phone that you have done this, unless the police direct you to do otherwise. Be cautious as you will be dealing with a criminal coming to your home.

CAR ADVERTS - If a car seller mentions escrow - he's scamming you Never ever for any reason pay anything until you have seen and inspected the vehicle
