Victims across west Surrey have been conned out of thousands of pounds by a scam which advertises cars for sale at a fraction of their retail price.
Police have revealed that one woman lost more than £4,000 after responding to an advert on Gumtree.
She was told her money would be held in an Amazon flexible payment account until she received the car, but it never arrived.
