HELP scammed for years

I haven't been scammed, but my grandmother is. She's sent tens of thousand of dollars that I know of. I also think they are using her to launder money. Because I've found western unions that she sends off. She's borrowed money from friends. She sold her car. It's ruined her marriage to my grandfather, because over the years it has developed from a regular scam to a love scam. The scammer turned her against my grandfather. I could list many more unfortunate things.

We've tried talking to her but she gets very angry and yells and says that we all need to butt out of her private business. She thinks we are jealous or trying to control her.

Its financially becoming unbearable. She barely ever leaves the house. She sits all day with yahoo mail open, waiting for a mail. The doctor told her to exercise after a surgery a few years ago. Her health has declined greatly very suddenly. She used to be very active in the church she managed a lot of things and was very accomplished.

I know that if my grandfather dies first then she will sell everything. The house as well. Because the scammer keeps telling her that he will come and take her to his mansion in England. She will be on the street. My mother was on the street for a while. That inheritance money is supposed to care for my mother.

I'm considering going to the courts and trying to get them to declare her incompetent, so she isn't allowed to spend money. I know that her fake boyfriend would leave her.

I've already told grandpa to cut the internet, but he doesn't want to make her madder. He's depressed.

Please give me some advice. Thoughts? This is tearing my family apart.

He claims to work for the Queen of England.

The initial email is long gone since it was from 2001. (yep.)

I hesitate to post anything because she doesn't share things with me. Every few years I find where she has written her password down and give them to my aunt who monitors her.

Victims like this will be hard to get off the hook. If she is sending money she will realize it is a scam when she is broke. She can already see for the past 14 years he has not visited nor has she traveled to him.

If she is receiving money from other victims and forwarding then she'll learn when she is arrested.

Only her husband. The other option would be a couple of Medical Doctors and a Judge.

The fake site republictrust-tt.net was reported by us in Oct 2012 it was operated by Nigerian scammers.

It had been floating around since 2008.

Hopefully, you will have some success.

This comment is my biggest fear for the OP. If money is being received in a joint account both grandparents are in jeopardy.

She is paranoid and thinks everyone is conspiring against her except for her beloved internet friends.

You can also private message the details to someone and research can be done . These scammers usually have multiple victims on the hook . If research proved it was a scam, his details could be posted to an entirely new thread . hopefully warning other potential victims .

Find a local lawyer that offers a free initial consultation and explain everything to them and yes, it is likely to be expensive. As to what happens, only the lawyer can tell you that.

Unfortunately, this is a possibility (you will find threads in the news forum where money mules have been charged and imprisoned) - especially if she carries on laundering money. Fairly soon victims will start complaining and it will be her name that they pass to the authorities.

She's already done that herself - she is committing a serious crime.
