Welcome to Scamwarners, and I'm glad you didn't lose any money.
There's no need to disguise scammers' email addresses here, so can you edit your posting please.
Posting them correctly may lead potential victims here If they do an Internet search on it.
If it results in the scammer getting more spam, well I guess we'll just have to live with it. :)

Hello!!!

I also got interested in a great appartment in the center of Oslo, Norway... It was extremely cheap and looked just too perfect for the price. Then this person toon told me that his name is Thomas Bernet and that his pregnant daughter, who was living in the appartment has moved to Manchester with her boyfriend to live with her father (thomas). He used the adress: [email protected]. According to him his wife is dead, he has his own company that deals with export-import with China. He was saying the he is such an honest and serious man way too often.

The fact that i could not find any information on him made me a little nervous (since he has his own company and is such "a wealthy man"). There was also nothing on the surname on the internet... That seemed just weird to me... Also he said that he is the owner of the appartment. It is possible to find all the information (adress, tlf, name, occupation) on norwegian web pages and guess what... didn't find anything.

Then he sent me a copy of his passport which was made really good, but had some little mistakes... almost unnoticable (had to find several examples from internet to compare). After all my doubts i found this page (by googling the passport number - 027282397) with very similar posted stories, especially the one from Copenhagen.

After a while I got a suggestion that he sends me the key through DHL and i the company collects depositum for 24 hours and i get back after i examine the appartment. I did not answer that e-mail and left it as it is... After a while i also checked the IP adress... Internet found it in the USA.

I really feel bad for those who will actually pay deposit money which is 4800 NOK, about 500 EUR....
Special thanks to Manuphil and Dario for posted information...

Hello

Same story:

A Thomas Bernet offered through www.immoscout24.ch a wonderful apartment in the centre of zurich - very luxurious but very cheap. I sent him an e-mail and he answerd me the following (e-mail adress: [email protected]):

Good day ,
I received an email from you for the rental of my apartment in Brinerstrasse 17, 8003 Zürich listed at 1050 CHF , utilities included within the range of 150 CHF/month !
If you are still interested the offer is still available but I removed the announcement from the Internet because I was receiving too many e-mails and I will not have time to answer all of them .
About the apartment !
The apartment is paid in full and with no legal problem ( I am telling you this because with this financial crisis there are many apartments with problems ) . I am the only owner of the apartment and I want to rent it for ANY period of time , the longer the better . The apartment was inhabited by my daughter and her boyfriend while they where working and studying in Switzerland but they recently bought a house in Manchester so they won't need the apartment anymore . I am very happy about their decision because they will be living very close to me (I also live in Manchester , 2 blocks from them ).
The apartment is like you see it in the pictures and available at request because my daughter moved to Manchester with her boyfriend since she is 8 months pregnant .
Rental conditions !
- 1 month of deposit
- pets are allowed ( I am a pet owner myself)
- open end contract with 1-3 months notice
About me !
I am 59 years old British import -export trader and own my own company . We work with Chinese manufacturings so I am away most of the year . As I told you I have a daughter which unfortunately is my only remaining relative since my wife passed away 7 years ago .
What I need to know about you !
- more or less for how long do you intend to rent the apartment ?
- how many persons will there be living in the apartment?
- a valid phone number so I can call you and of course the hours when I can call
If you agree with the rental conditions please send me an e-mail with the information I requested and I will select a candidate out of the e-mails that I will receive .
All the best ,
Thomas

Next Answer:

Nice to hear from you so soon and which such a nice answer !
I agree to rent the apartment to you at the price of 1050 CHF /Month , utilities included . You seem to be a very nice person and I can assure youthat we will not have any problems .
I want to tell you from the beginning that I am very serious and honest man and I offer and request seriosness . I make a good and honest living so all the money from the rent will go to my grandson's college fund .
The apartment looks exactly like you see it in the pictures and you have the address of the apartment from the first e-mail I sent to you so you can check out the area .
I request 1 month of deposit which will be returned at the end of the contract or they will be the payment for the last month of rent (if everything is ok with the apartment !)
If you agree with everything we can get things started !
I will wait your email with your decision !
Bernet Thomas ,

After receiving this mail with so many "I'm a really serious and honest man etc." I searched in the Internet and found this page! Thank you for the informations on this site, that helped me to not lose any money.

Same story as Cro for me, but in Lausanne. A wonderful apartment in Lausanne for a ridiculous rent (800.-).

The e-mail and the answer are exactly the same that I got, except his e-mail address is [email protected].

Thank you for not letting us fall for it.

Hi and welcome to Scamwarners.
I can't imagine life without the Internet. It's a mixed blessing though. It makes scamming easy.

Of course it's depriving a lot of scammers of money too.

makes for a very happy Scamwarners team :D

This thread is a great example of how much good can be done by taking the time to post the details of scammers on sites like this.

Great work all :=)

Hi !
I answered to this person, too, for an apartment in Geneva, 800CHF + 120CHF utilities.
Details are the same as in other cases here reported.

I become aware of a possible scam when he repeated that he's "honest" too many times, so I checked on internet and I found him here ...

best,
thank you all,
RP
