Got scammed and lost a lot of money...

Hi,
unfortunately I got scammed on a dating site and lost around 20000 Euros. It took a long time until I realized
what was going on. Thanks to a lady from scamwarners who definitely confirmed my suspects.
I kept many of the emails I received and also some fake copies of "official" papers and I have webcam photos
of the man who later tried to catch me again by pretending he is working for an FBI-like investigation to catch
scammers.
Can anybody tell me where in GERMANY I can claim this affair, except for the police?

I am sorry to hear that you have lost money but happy that you will not be losing any more, scammers have no remorse for the pain and suffering they cause both financially and emotionally.

If you could please post any of the details you can on this site it may help to prevent others from losing money to the same person

Some of our members are German and should be able to give you much better information that I can, one of those members has a site in German which may have more advice, I dont speak or read German myself so I dont know what he has on the site but he should be able to answer your questions for you if you still have any questions

just wanted to add another account of this same scam to the list. Today I replied to a craig's list Berlin ad for a flat in Berlin mitte. I didn't think much of it, as flats in Berlin tend to be rather inexpensive. Anyway, for 500 (all inclusive), you get a 3 room, fully furnished place in the heart of Berlin. I knew right away something wasn't right when he told me "lawyers had advised him not to meet with any prospective tenants"

To add to the previous writer's post about the Craiglist in France, I have been in contact with a person about an appartment in Geneva, Switzerland. We almost lost our money. To a lady so called "Verena Gallob".
She told us she was living with her old parents in the Uk. Now we spoke to her over the phone and she had an accent from North Africa. She sent me her "supposed to be" passport as a confermation. Which it didnt make any sence. Now i found out this a little wierd, i thought that it was to good to be true. So my 15 year old daughter put in her address from the Uk into google. Alot of results came up and scamwarners was there with a link of her address. I started reading stories and thats when me and my daughter knew that we were being scammed. The lady called back and my daughter pretended to be me. My daughter told her that we were arriving in Geneva in a week and we would give her the money in hand. "Verena" said "No i dont do that, you send me the money threw western union." Before i even knew i was being scammed she asked me for my information and a copy of my passport. So i did, i sent it in to her. Now she might use my passport copy for more scams. My name is Elsa Braga Here is a copy of her "supposed to be" passport and her information:

Thanks for that. Googling on "Verena Gollob" shows that the name has been used for a number of scams. The scammer is probably using the name of an earlier victim.
Can you please edit the picture of the passport and write "Stolen" on it in two or three places. To stop it being useful to scammers who may visit this forum.

It is possible that a scammer may find the ID posted and begin to use it themselves for future scams, obviously, with what I have done to it it would be very difficult

A touch too slow, it seems that Mr Tamberine Man has beaten me to that point while I was remodelling it for you he has also provided some information proving it as a scam which I haven't looked at so it seems I will not have to do that now (thanks MTM )

Just adding re the ID, unfortunately yes, there is a good chance that your ID will be used by scammers in much the same way and unfortunately there is nothing you can do to prevent it.

As to you having your name posted in here, as much as it may make somebody find this post if they happen to search on your name, it isn't really something we recommend for your safety

THIS ASSHOLE has a new e-mail address----AT LEAST ONE NEW ONE---and is still active on the Paris Craigslist listings.

It's well furnished apartment that located in a centre heart of the city, so it is available now for rent either in short or long terms rent/lease, a room will cost you 350euros per month and whole apartment is 700euros with security deposit payment of 800euros which is refundable at the end of the contract and the bills include all charges such as water, gas,heating, power and internet...Also it is possible to rent it unfurnished, because i have a store room to keep my own furnitures.
